Hi Ya'll !
I'm looking for a GM shop manual for a '76 and wanted to know who or were any of you would recommend ordering one from? I looked In the catalogs (Mid Am. , Ekler's , etc.) but wasn't sure if those were actual "GM" shop manuals. Any ideas ??

E-bay is a good source, as are swap meets. You should be able to find one for around $40, maybe less. The ones from the "vendors" may not be the actual , factory manuals, but I don't know that for sure.
Try e-bay...I found a complete set of factory manuals(4) for my Cadadillac for $35, including the recall/tech bulletin manual !!! Normally, these would have set me back about $800!

From what I found out so far, it seems GM released a suppliment manual that was to be used with the 1974 shop manual, and that manual also covered several other chevy models as well. Is this correct? On my '81 the GM shop manual only covers that yr, that model

the 74 shop manual is thick and covers chevelles, monte carlos, nova
and the 75 is a supplement to that book. don't know how they did later
years. best and cheapest place to find one is on ebay. bought my
manuals for the 75 and 90 and paid a fraction of what a new one would
cost. btw...also bought AIM from ebay for the 75 too. hope this helps

There was a supplement to the '74 manual to be used for the '75 models only...it did not carry on to the later years. There were too many differences in the 75 up cars. The mechanical stuff on the early '75 cars were close enough to the '74 to be able to use MOST of the '74 manual, and they added the other stuff in the supplement.
The '74 has two separate manuals...one covers the overhaul aspects of all of the mechanical systems, and the other is the actual "repair" manual. They did cover several other models, but all of the Corvette specific stuff is by itself within the manuals.
As far as I know, the other(later) years all had their own manuals.
I saw a '63 and a '66 service manual just a couple of weeks ago in an antique shop locally...I think they were around $40 each...I didn't get them, but I probably should've...

Do the service manuals have all the bolt sizes and tq specs in them? I bought the assembly manual and I was kind of dissapointed. Good drawings but on the assembly manual drawing it will have a number next to the bolt and that's it, I just don't know how to reference that.

The service manuals will have torque specs for most of the fasteners, but not necessarily the specific sizes for everything.
