Yes that is correct.I mentioned in another thread about a new player on the Island.Well I saw the 78SA last week.It was in the shop and they had it running.I was suprised at how smooth it ran and how NICE the engine bay looked.Well I found out yesterday by talking to the owner that he paid $30,000 for it.He showed me a boat load of paperwork that came with the car documating the work.I didn't really go over it with a fine tooth comb but the PO put $48,000 and some change for the work. That tells me one thing. The PO never picked up a wrench. All the work done was to NCRS standards.Car has 33,000 miles on it.Red interior.I did notice the L82 valve covers on it but,it didn't have the L82 decal on the hood.I forgot to ask him about that but,I'll see him again. The car is also an auto trans.I don't know..........What do you all think?$30,000,thats BJ range!!!I've seen real nice 78PC's go for less. This is also the same guy that has the 67 427/435 coupe,black/red with red interior and the white 70 350 auto trans coupe,oh yeah and the GTO.He said he's still not done.I told him about my 82CE.The first thing he said is how much do you want for it.I think he needs to do a little more homework.Wink

Is this the car that was on eBay with some 70 or so pictures?  If so I think i would have bought that car for 30k.  As far as I could see from the pictures this car looked straight off the showroom floor.  I told the wife I wanted to buy it for her and she just laughed.

I believe th PO of 48,000 to be accurate. my 78 is insured and appraised at 30,000 and i have receipts that will total that (and i did all the labor at no charge)

If someone has a spare $30k I'll sell them my '78 Silver Anniversary!

That being said...a car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. It's his money so he can spend it as he likes. If he feels like he got his money's worth...more power to him. I hope he enjoys the car.

Vette(s): 1978 Silver Anniversary model. Original L82 engine, 700r4 trans, edelbrock intake, thorly headers, rack&pinion steering, mono rear and front spring, MSD 6A box
I love my 78SA, is it worth 30K? To me it is I have maybe 20K invested but, don't think I would sell it for 30K, when I get to old to enjoy it I'll give it to my son or grandson.

Vette(s): 1972 conv., sunfire yellow, blk interior, blk vinyl and convertible top. Off frame restoration with American Speed 383 stroker engine producing 500hp plus a 200hp NOS system. MSD ignition. Hooker super competition headers with chambered exhaust.
I'm with Gunslinger here.  Any car is worth what someone is willing to pay for it, not what a previous owner has invested in it or what a book says the value is. The "perception" of value is only important to the buyer. Is Carroll Shelby's cobra worth $5,000,000? I don't think so but someone did. rearn2go722007-02-27 14:32:53

Ya'all are right about what someone is willing to pay. Before I go any futher,I am NOT picking this car apart!!It is drop dead beautiful and I'd love to own it.I stopped by and looked at it again about 15 min. ago.I'm just courious as to where the money went.I've never restored one of these before so my questions are for my own benifit.I''ve been around old cars long enough to know what I'm looking at and I do beleive the owner that the interior is orginal. It does need carpet. It's red and some of the carpet is orange. One other thing I'd like to know is Everything from the dash back to the halo bar is red except for the top of the dash(black)all the trim from the halo back is black is this correct? it looks like $0 spent on the interior. The underside looks as good as my 82CE,meaning that it has been driven. The tape that goes around the nose has a lot of air bubbles in it.Options that I can see are PW/PL/Tilt-tele/P.seat.No power mirrows and no defog. If the owner offered to trade for my 82CE i'd REALLY think long and hard.It is a NICE Vette. When I decided to buy a C3 I narrowed it down to a 78PC,78SA,82CE.This is why I'm bringing this car up as I do have a soft spot for it.

I can't help ya' on whether or not the interior is original, but if it's not you can restore that yourself.  Thumbs%20Up  Sounds like it needs it anyway. Wink  Man, if YOU really love that car, make an offer and see if they bite.  I like it myself.....no place to park it for me. Ouch
One other thing I'd like to know is Everything from the dash back to the halo bar is red except for the top of the dash(black)all the trim from the halo back is black is this correct?
Sounds right to me. The only real trim rearward of the halo is the "package shelf" trimming out the rear window. That's black.

Geeze, I'd take $22K for MY 78SA. L82-auto, loaded with 1400 original milesConfused. Some buyers need to do a little more research before pulling the trigger!  Mike
