Hey guys,

I am looking at a 78 anniversary car. It is all original, two-owner, L82 4speed. I would give the paint an 7 out of 10 and the interior 8 out of 10. The car has been garaged and runs good. It has 51,000 documented miles. I know NADA is high on thes C3s. Any opinions in a fair market value?
Thanks,

Scott

The best thing to do is hit the auction sites like Mecum and Jackson-Barrett.  They will show what cars have sold for and then you can make a much more educated guess.  Same goes for Ebay as well but make sure you look at the sold for price, not asking.  Vette magazine would post what prices have been over the last couple of auctions, not sure if they still do that.

HIYA Scott!! Tongue
What are they asking for it? Without seeing it, I'd venture a guess in the $10,000-$13,000 range, with today's market, if it's fairly nice.

Hey Joel! The car belongs to a friend/coworker. He has had it may years but hasn't driven it much over the years. I would say it is a clean, original car, that's all there.  He just had the brakes done by a our local Vette expert. I was thinking 10K-14K, which is a huge bracket. I don't think I could go over 10K on it, knowing what I know about these rubber bumper cars on resale. I sold my 75 last year and am looking for another toy. I was really looking for an old 50s truck to play with but this Vette has come available and he has given me the first shot at it. It's a nice car, never abused.

Corvette Magazine runs market guides by generation on a regular basis.  I think they are pretty informative as each guide breaks the gen out by year and has a narrative of what to look for and what to shy away from.

The last full C3 Guide was in the March 2014 issue so an update should be just around the corner.

Vette(s): many years ago when I was rich and single, a 1973 350 4 speed Corvette. A few years ago I had a 1978 Silver Anniversary L-82 4 speed Corvette. My recent purchase is a 1982 showroom condition, 12,000 mile Collectors Edition Corvette.
Scott, I sold my 1978 L-82 4 speed Silver Anniversary in 2011 for about $15K. I had the car repainted perfect, seats I re-did myself. Mostly all original car when I bought it in 2003. It even came with the original Goodyear GT radials on it. Bought it with 23K miles, sold it with 28K miles about 8 years later. Good luck! Jim
