Vette(s): Red 81' T-Top with Don Yenko Turbo
Hey everyone, first time posting.

I have a 1981' TTop Red Corvette with a Don Yenko installed Turbo making it roar. She's got around 24,300 miles, 4 speed auto, no rust and still holds beautiful paint with no cracks in the leather seats. What do you reckon the value of this car would be? I have all appropriate documentation signed by Yenko himself with the car. A normal 81 vet in average condition fetches something like $12,000.

Thanks:
Dylan

Welcome to the site.
The rubber bumper cars are not the money end of the C3's the chrome bumper cars are. Your car has low mileage and that is desirable for sure. A purest looking for a low mileage survivor might not want the Yenko add on (non original)
Depending on what the market would bear not sure if 12-15 may be tops.
My white 80 just turned 20K original everything, in a sale I'd think 15 may be tops if lucky.
Tough market.
If you love the car then it's worth 25K to you! enjoy the ride!

Thanks for the reply.

I'm about an hour south of buffalo or 20 minutes west of springville. The Yenko turbo is either a curse or a blessing. Being that a purist may not like the addition but a collector may like the uniqueness and rarity of the authentic yenko addition.

Thanks for giving me a good estimate of its value.
Dylan

You probably could actually get low 20's at the right auction on a good day I would think. It seems that the customish vettes have been commanding slightly higher numbers than stock lately. I attribute that to people now wanting fun cars instead of cars to look at with the economy the way it is.

Post up some pictures of the beast! I love all things Yenko and would love to see this bad boy

Hi Dylan,  Welcome to C3VR. That's a sweet Vette no matter what the value! Here is a link to a C3 dealer in PA that has a few 81's:

Dylan, nice pictures. Sharp looking car, I'm sure it turns heads. You need to get in on a gathering with the East coast bunch. You going to Carlisle?

I've seen that car a few years ago at the Hamburg Fair Grounds during one of their cruises.
It was a nice car. I was quite intrigued about it. The fellow said it was his daughters car at one time and now he has it. He had the documentation on which was a plus. The only turbo cars really noted in 1981 by Yenko, was the Yenko Z Camaro's. That was the last year I believe he did turbos on GM Camaro's.

As far as pricing goes, that's a tough one. '81 aren't worth a lot to begin with. But throw a Yenko turbo on it...I would pay 20k for it.

Dylan,

Bring it to Carlisle for the auction, with your reserve bid. That will tell you what the market is willing to pay.

I've been looking for a decent size boat to live on for the summer months.  I'm not ready to buy unless it's a great deal.  This what I've learned, 90% of all folks selling think their boat is worth lots more than people are willing to buy, location is not only important in real estate but in everything being sold, if 2 or 3 people of means want what you have forget the first 2 statements.
As far as being original or Yenko...look what a Yenko Camaro brings.  Who knows if the Yenko vette will be as collectible.  I like the idea of taking it to Carlisle.
