I looked last night, but it was late and I didn't want to get my tools out of the basement.
I'll try to take a look today to at least see what is in mine. The tread looks like a donut-size tire.
"Owner's manual"? Only look at that as a last resort.
I have my owners manual but I didn't look in there.I have never thought an owners manual would go into something like. There usually just pretty genaric about the features, but I will go look at it.

OK, I got the tire out. That was a job because the long adjusting screw was torqued up tight and rusted.
I had to unbolt the two screws that hold the bracket that the long screw is fastened to. They were rusted too, but they came out without breaking.
The tire is a Goodyear Polyspare P195/80D15. It is marked on both side "TEMPORARY USE ONLY MAXIMUM 50 MPH"
So it is full size OD. Just narrow. It has 3 plies of polyester cord on the tread and 2 plies of polyester cord on the sidewalls.
Mine has never been used, but all the premium factory air was gone. Pressure was zero.
I'm glad I checked it before heading to Carson City.
Pumped it up to 30 psi (35 is max.) and put it back in.
So if the long adjusting screw works, you should be able to put a full size tire in there. The cover would hang down some, but that would only be until you put the spare back in.
BTW, I only saw one set of hooks towards the front of the car for the cover to attach to.

My 82 has a full size spare in the tub. I don't think there has been any alteration to the tub, acording to the previous owner, so I think yours should fit without a problem
Well it won't hurt to try.I'll go dig out my spare.I've got a set of 8 inch rallys with rings but no caps.A buddy on mine gave them to me just to get them out of his shead. Now there in mine.
