Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses.

A friend of mine recently inherited an 82 Collector Edition, but did not key keys for the T-Tops. Is this a standard key or is it specific to the lock for the car? What's the best way / place to get a replacement key? Thanks!
I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

My t-top locks are from '70s-'80's era. They have their own dedicated key. Is there a manufacture name with a number on the locks? Or head down to a reputable lock smith and see if they can help. Sorry I don't have a perfect answer for this. Good luck!

I'd think that perhaps the door locks should fit the T Top locks..??

A COMPETENT locksmith should be able to make new keys for the locks I'd think..

As far as I know, T-top locks were never a GM option so the factory keys will not work. As stated above, any good locksmith with a pick set will have them off in a matter of mins. Unfortunately getting new keys made or re-keying them will probably cost more than new ones from most Corvette vendors. What's up with all of the '82 Collector cars ?? It seems like they are turning up everywhere. I still feel bad for the unfortunate one we parted out this year, the PO butchered that car beyond belief. Good luck on the locks !!
