Greetings all!
About a month ago I became the proud new owner of a 1977 Blue Corvette! Happyness and joy spread throughout the house and I couldn't quit smiling for at least... well, I'm still smiling!
I'd been looking for a while in all the usual places. I found a 79 and an 81 in Atlanta, so the wife and I drove up to check them out. The 79 had really good mechanicals and NO interior. When we drove it, my wife's seat came loose and tipped backwards
So we passed on it. The 81 had no less than 6 cracks in the fiberglass, so we passed on it also. When we got back near home we saw a nice 81 at a collector's lot, but the price was too high. I asked the guy there if he knew of any others, and he gave me directions to this other guy's house. I get there and the guy comes out and I asked him if he had a 'Vette. He says, "Yeah, the darn thing's in my way. You want it?" Hehe, stupid question...
Long story short, even after 2 years being stored in a barn under a tarp, everything is decent on the car. Interior is okay, paint is fine, one stress crack forward of the passenger door. He sprung for new tires, I'm doing the rest, so I'll be asking for lots of help! Luckily, one of my friends owns a parts store (NAPA) and another friend teaches automotive at the High school where I teach Drafting, so I'll have lots of help around here, too!
If any of y'all live around the Valdosta/Tifton area of Georgia, holler. As I learn stuff I'll be glad to share my experiences with others, as some of y'all have already done for me.
