Some more email conversation with Dr. Rebuild after I posted his email above...

Mr. Wartell:

Thank you partially for accommodating my request. Unfortunately, you edited the material by removing a link, and then placed it at the end of an old document, and under a different title, and in very difficult to read smaller reverse type. I am confident you are aware of the limitations and handicap this produces for anyone reading anything. The very first message is the one with the highest readership.

Sincerely,
Geoffrey Coenen

PS I may re-consider sending a check for $9.98 to simply rectify the above limitations, but I am actually curious what type of refund do you provide if I am not satisfied with your product? What are the terms for obtaining a refund?

I didn't have to post it at all, but I thought I would be a professional and accommodate your request. And now, you are chastising the way I posted it, which to me is absolutely unbelievable and unprofessional. Let me now pick apart all your complaints:

1) "you edited the material by removing a link" No I did not. I literally copied and pasted your email directly into the post.
2) "and then placed it at the end of an old document", I put it in the document (thread) that was most relevant to what you had to say and to whom you were referring.
3) "and under a different title" if you are referring to your title of "Beating a Profane Dead Horse", that title is still there in your quoted email
4) "and in very difficult to read smaller reverse type." I'll agree that it is smaller and reverse type, but the forums have had that feature for years and never once has anyone complained about having a hard time reading it.
5) "I am confident you are aware of the limitations and handicap this produces for anyone reading anything." (see number 4 above)
6) "The very first message is the one with the highest readership. " There have already been 5 replies to this thread since I posted your email. Starting at: https://www.c3vr.com/vrforums/message_go.asp?MID=35719#54445
Some of the people like you, some don't. One seems to like you less because of the email you sent me.

As far as your questions about the $9.98, under normal circumstances I am happy to refund a membership if someone is unhappy with the site. However, I have to say, I'm extremely concerned that you will pay, post some messages to rebut the other posts about you, then want your money back. So knowing that, I would refund your membership fee, pro-rated based on the number of days you stay a paid member.

-Adam

P.S. I have copied this email to the thread too.... Word for word, with no editing.

I have personaly never done any bus.w/Dr.Rebuild, but I have done some with some really screwy companies. I will gladly pay a few more $ for good cust. service. I have dealt with a few that would flat out lie about parts availibility, price, ship times/cost, you name it. When I first started restoring my '74, I ordered some parts from a co. in Ohio;total bill of about $2000. It took 3 months to get my parts. Every time I called,I got a different excuse, but by golly my credit card had already been charged the day the stuff was ordered. That co. had several phone #s listed for:"Orders Only"-"Cat.request"-"Cust. Serv.", etc. The same guy anwered every #., and was very indignant, rude, and uninterested in solving the situation. I finally said p**s on it, and refuse to buy ANYTHING EVER again from that co. Lesson learned. I now get my parts from people who know what they are doing, and will let me know if they have the parts, price, etc., even tho I have to pay quite a bit more. If I get good service at a restaraunt, I tip well, if I get crappy service, they get a crappy tip. If you want my business, earn it. |cussing| |cussing| |cussing|

Until this thread re-appeared I had never paid very much attention to the posts about the Dr. Yeah, I'd seen mention of him before, but nothing that stuck in my mind.

The response he sent and had Adam post was fine up until the PS and PPS. It made me snicker.

So I had to do a search to find out if there is more to this whole story. Apparently there is.

My conclusion from reading other posts regarding doing business with the Dr... he has lots and lots of good parts but most of the time the staff is rude and grouchy and difficult to deal with.

Like I said before, I didn't really know who the Dr. was when I started reading this thread. Now I know. |ohwell|

Like I said in my email to Doc Rebuild, Walk around the Dead Horse. Other wise you just stir the flies. Besides these posts are short lived and the majority of the people just ignore them.

Doc has great hard to find parts. I come across people who are rude to me everyday, typically at the local drive thru, sometimes at the local filling station, other times just on the phone. Maybe they are having a bad day, maybe there dog got ran over, maybe they got a speeding ticket that morning, maybe they don't care about what they are doing.

I have a guy now that has been calling me everyday trying to get something for nothing. He has just about pushed me over the cliff. I will be politely stern with him the next time he calls and tell him Sorry, but I'm not interested in hearing anymore about what you think is the best marketing ideal since slice bread.

He's one of those with the titanium heads with no ears! In dealing with people you have to be like a duck and let it roll off your back.

Well, not for nothin', but with the price of Corvette parts, I do NOT have to put up with rules. I was turned off by the Dr.'s attitude, called Bair's, got great, "real human-being kinda" service, and spent the $2000+ on the rear-end re-do with them. I voted with my money.

It works both ways...a seller can decide how much crap they want to take from a customer as opposed to how much they purchase, and a customer can decide to shop somewhere else if they dont like the service or product supplied.I think its called Free Enterprise?

In my business once my support staff has run out of options to help someone they put me on the phone and I generally say "I'm sorry Sir/Maam but my company is unable to provide the intense level of tech support that you require, may I suggest you call <insert competitor here>.

Its kinda turned into a competition, we send our idiots to them and they send their idiots to us.

btw The definition I use for idiot is "Smarter than a moron but can't prove it."

That's free enterprise in action.

See what happens when you take a vacation!!

Let me clarify the facts for Mr Rebuild and all here, below was pasted from the the above message, my responses in parenthesis.

****************************************

When Mr. Grosso called, he directed (asked, Brenda was very nice)our salesgirl Brenda to ship the order via Air. She informed him that was not possible because we DO NOT Ship Air on the INITIAL ORDER from any NEW CUSTOMER. However, Brenda being the shy, non-confrontational girl that she is said that she would check when pressed (I was nothing but nice)by Mr. Grosso. (I was told they normally didn't do this, but she would check, she came back moments later and said yes)

Credit card fraud is costly, but generally only to the selling merchant.
The credit card clearing houses and the associated banks indemnify the valid card owners, and themselves. They do not bear any burden. The mail order merchant looses the merchandise, and even has to pay for the shipping and insurance on a fraudulent sale. I realize some may consider that unfair, however we do not have any monopoly on any obsolete Corvette parts. There are many unfair things in life, however not being able to place an initial order via Air delivery at Dr. Rebuild is hardly a dreadful story of suffering and abuse, no matter how that cheese is cut. It stinks and is rather petty and truly needs much embellishment to arise to the level of a chit chat newsroom event worthy of any consideration. Therefore, let's add the catch all phrase: poor customer service and add rude to elevate this to an event worthy of a full investigation.

When Brenda checked for Mr. Grosso, she unfortunately misunderstood that answer. In any event, the warehouse closed at 6:30 PM and my wife brought home the usual daily upload of that Friday's activities and then I noticed that scheduled Air shipment. I informed her, that since that order would not be shipped via Air, I would attempt to contact Mr. Grosso that very same evening to provide him a viable alternative before Saturday morning. I did not want to deceive or mislead him in any manner.

I explained that due to credit card fraud we would not ship via Air on any initial order (he did this rudely) to anyone, and unfortunately he was given the wrong information on the phone when seeking an exception. Our pulp catalogs and internet catalogs have clearly acknowledged that same policy for years, if not a decade or more. Mr. Grosso apparently though that by arguing ( I never agued )he could challenge that policy. Two or three times I offered him to ship via ground (he said I had no choice if i wanted the part) and jump his order to the top of the pile for the very next ship cycle ( this was never stated). I wanted to provide him with the factual knowledge that no part would arrive via Air in two days and thus provide him an alternative plan or source (BS as well).

Regretfully, he wanted to merely continue arguing (BS) and even wanted to speak to a higher authority. I explained, Sir, I am the owner, and I regret that your were misinformed a few hours earlier, however due to credit card fraud we don't ship Air on any initial order and that has been our policy for years.

I gave him a choice that he could accept ground delivery or we would not ship and there certainly would be no charge to the credit card. My patience wearing thin, three times, I asked him for his choice and he responded to me "GO F### YOURSELF". ( This I did say, as stated in my original post) At that point I merely hung up (I hung up on him after the above comment) the phone and recorded those exact comments along with the other information that he had already provided.

**************************************

Mr. Rebuilds recollection of our conversation only reinforces my original post that I would never do business with this man, ever.

I have read here that this company has hard to find rare parts, that are of great quality, but as long as he is the owner, I’ll do without……………
