Came across a flat bed trailer that looks to be a pretty good deal. Don't really want to spend the money right now, but if I can get it cheap enough, I just might. It's a 15' diamond plate deck Dively trailer. Is 15' long enough to carry a Vette? It has a wind deflector on the front so I would not be able to pull front wheels up to end of deck. Looks like car would hang over back deck about a foot, but set over tandem axles about right to balance properly. Just wondering if this size will work OK or should I just wait for something a little longer?
Thanks, Jeff

My dove-tail trailer is 16'. The '74 fits on it with the rear tires right where the down-turn of the dove-tail starts. The back of the car does stick out past the actual end of the trailer about a foot, but there is about 1 1/2-2' of free space in front of the car. This is where I have to put it for it to be balanced, and not whip around on the road.
I should've gone ahead and got an 18'...
Our cars run on a 98" wheelbase, which is a little over 8'. Your car would fit on a 15 foot trailer, but...it might be a bit squirrelly at highway speeds. A lot depends on the tow vehicle, too.Adams' Apple 2007-07-05 18:45:28

Thanks Adam, I didn't even think about that, but now that you mention it, I did have a trailer with a tractor that did that on the highway, not a fun feeling, so i stayed off the highway. Tow vehicle is a good size- GMC 2500HD.
A 15 footer would be a bit too short for my comfort level. The trailer I have has a 2 foot dove-tail and that allows the entire car to be over trailer. Nothing hangs out over either the end of the trailer. Balance has been good with either "The Toy" or "BIGBRRD" along for a ride.
Thanks guys, Thats enough info for me. I'll pass on this one and wait until a deal on a longer one comes along.
The owner did tell me he carried a Shelby kit car on it. I think that's a pretty small car.
Besides, I might just come across one of them Hemi barn finds and wouldn't want to be stuck with too short a trailer to haul it out.
