well i think they are pretty cool if done right..
The definitely give better handling than our stock 15"'s
I plan to go with 18x8 boyd coddingtons when i get mine running again..
I am going to use the size 255/45r18
this leaves a 4.5 inch side wall on the tires instead of the 6 inch sidewall from 15"'s and doesnt change the speedo calibration etc as they are still 27" tall.
what I think does look goofy on any car.. especially a classic.. is when people rice out their wheels and tires..
ie go with very large rims and a very small tires diameter.
so as long as you plan to use a tire proportional to the car.. i say go for it.
btw.. one of the main issues you need to worry about other than correct back spacing is caliper clearance. the center of the rim must bow out to clear the calipers.
Just one thing to keep in mind. The larger rims will handle better, but ride worse. It all depends on what you want. Enjoy!

true... but I for one didnt buy a corvette for the silky smooth ride..
