Hey got a reply from Bobie Jo at the NCM. She likes the idea, said she was going to talk to the other managers there and get back to me. Every one wants to know how many cars it will take, I'll only get to see our GPS guy one day this week, so it may be next week b4 I know. I wonder how much room they have at the NCM. We can work that out. You know this mite actually happen.
Thanks Everyone

If i'm right, at the bare minimum you'll need 117 corvette's. I also believe, that unless you use more cars.... lots more.... the blue and white field will need to be entirely blue, that or we get crafty with the spacing of the cars. I see a field of 13 cars tall, 9 cars deep. 117 total. The bottom 6 rows of the flag consist of the bottom six stripes, a total of 54 cars. The field consist of 7 vertical rows four cars deep. Thats 28. Then you have the rest of the stripes, 7 vertical rows, 5 cars deep. Thats 35 cars, for a total of 117. You could add more detail with more cars, but lets get realistic...., then again, i've never been to a vette club meeting, as i just joined the ranks of vette owners
Hopefully this helps all,

using Brandon's layout that would work out to approx 90 feet x 150 feet using the size of a c3. also that works out to 47 red, 42 white and 28 blue. If you add a pole to it I would guess bout 15 silver ones parked the other direction. 32 gold cars would do a border. or one to top the pole and 32 black ones for a border. If you double the size it would be slightly bigger than a football field and would take 468 cars. 188 red, 168 white and 112 blue. How bout laying white posterboard stars on the hoods of the blue ones? Just some numbers for thought.
Count me and my '73 coupe in for white.
Has anyone thought of doing at Mid-America's place in Efffingham, IL. They've got a field big enough to hold several thousand cars and at this years Vette Fun Fest they were selling helicopter rides so I know they can get one. They may even give some sponsorship if allowed to use the image...who knows. It's a nice central location though and may keep the travel time down for most.
Great Idea!!!!

Let me know what color you need and that's the color I will paint my sweetie (just kidding). Looking for a reason to meet everyone. I'm beige, but I'll blend in.

We did something similar at Walt Disney World a couple years ago. They made a guitar out of red, white, black, and silver Vettes. This was in celebration of the 1 year anniversary of the Rockin' Roller Coaster.
They laid out the outline in the large MGM studios parking lot, parked the cars over it, and took the photos from a crane. It came out really cool. I have a copy of the photo.
One problem is the cars with glass t-tops. The top looks black from above. The flag would look like it has spots in it. Disney used those cars for the "pickup" area of the guitar and the solid topped cars for the body and neck.

Wow! Would love to see the photo. How many cars were used? Was your car in the picture?
Eric,
I will email you the picture. Maybe you can post it here for the group to see.
