What kinds of anti-theft devices do you have on your C3? After all, GM was never known for their theft resistant designs.

I just installed a hidden kill switch on my '69 and I couldn't believe how simple it was.

We put an after market alarm in our '81 that has a fuel cutoff in it so if they steal it it will only go for a few blocks before it runs out of gas..

Vette(s):
SOLD - "The Toy" - '70 Convertible
SOLD - "The Beast" - '90 ZR-1 (#682)
SOLD - "Betty" - '28 Ford Model A Tudor
SOLD - "BLKBRRD" - '78 Pontiac Trans Am
"BLUBYU" - '04 Coupe
A previous owner had installed a combination kill switch/hood lock setup on "The Toy". Push button lock/key unlock is located under the dash. It is a nice setup and not very noticeable.

I have a steering column lock. Bought it on ebay also saw it at Pep Boys. It is a metal collar that locks around the steering column and covers the ignition switch.

Good question! I've been thinking about this for mine. I saw someone posting an interesting security device by Ravelco http://www.northeastravelco.com/index.html

Check out their website - they have some interesting information about other devices.

I've also been considering some T-Top locks. They only run about $40.

Anyone else installed either the Ravelco device or T-Top locks? Comments?

We also in stalled the "T-Top locks" - you are correct they cost around $40 & do not allow you to take the "T-Tops" off w/o the key to the lock ..

Vette(s): 1979, 350sb, as my kids affectionately call it "shit brown" Corvette purchased in 1996. 84,000+ miles. Not a show car, but I love her just the same.
For those of you who will be receiving the newsletter, I wrote an article addressing this very topic for Adam. Hopefully he's going to publish it! For those of you who already have them installed, do not forget to mention each device you have to your insurance agent as most times you can get some significant discounts on your premiums.

The least expensive one I found is a an electronic, key-operated kill switch from www.4mysecurity.com.

Alarms are next to useless. The only thing they might stop is 14 and under first timers. They did a report on them on 60 min or 20/20 I can't remember which but they had a pro try to break into a number of cars with different systems and drive them away. He was able to take every car in under a minute. Then they had one of the camera crew break into a car parked on a main street with heavy foot traffic. Even with the alarm blaring away of the 15 or so people walking by not one did anything most didn't even look over at him. They even checked with the police to see if anyone called it in. Nobody did.
You hear alarms going off so often no cares any more at the most they will curse the guy who owns the car for the noise. My sister had a top of the line system on her 4wd it had the kill switch, gas shut off, alarm and a bunch of other security options but one morning she got up for work to find her truck gone. Her bedroom window over looks the driveway and she didn't hear a thing. They never found the truck and she paid big $$$ for the system. The police told my sister that if they want your car they will get it and there is nothing that you can do about it.
