Anybody use this insurance company "Classic Auto Insurance Agency" for your collector car insurance? If so, how are they? Any claims filed?
Thanks!

Phil, Im in the insurance biz. I work for Chubb who used to underwrite Grundy. Find out who underwrites these guys. Your insurance is only as good as the underwriter. MAKE SURE you take an agreed upon policy. Your fully restored ie 1980 Vette has a book of 7000 or so! Agreed upon is agreed upon. THEN check any complaints filed with your state. Hagerty, Grundy and the other guys have agreat rep. The newbies or small frys are a viable alternatinive IF they pay the claims.. Dont laugh, I know HORROR stories of non-pay. The bike guys have a lot of this stuff.. Kevin.

i started out with grundy as they were the only one that didn't put the stipulation of car shows and educational purposes only on it (at the time a lot of others did plus i was recommended by someone). the only thing that bugged me was i went online for the quote and when i called them to apply the rate was higher and was told it was because it was a corvette. i took it anyway and when it came up for renewal the rate went up a lot more than i liked.
started checking out other companies again and jctaylor took that stipulation about car shows and educational purposes off. got a quote from them online and when i called to apply the rate was adjusted by another $5.00 as they match your regular car insurance. btw, jctaylor was almost a $100.00 cheaper than grundy for the same coverage.

I use Hagerty's for the vette. I'd have to dig up the policy, but I think it's 200 bucks a year for an agreed value of 21K. Only restrictions are that it must live in a garage, and can't be your daily driver. Thankfully, I haven't had to make a claim.
We have hagertys on the 69 vette, I have an agreed value of 35k and it costs under 300 a year, like jlik says you must have it in a lockable garage and only the agreed drivers can drive it.it cant be your daily driver,,my local allstate agent wrote the thing for me,,so far thankfully I havnt had to use it, its ok in my book, good luck,,rd
I have two cars insured with JC Taylor. They have the car show/club activities restriction, but I liked that there was no mileage restriction since I have driven to car club events as far away from Fort Worth as Las Vegas Nevada and Toronto, Ontario Canada. I also liked that their "modified" car policies are pretty liberal in establishing "agreed value". I hope I never have to find out how good they are at actually paying claims.
I want to put in a plug for my daily driver insurance, with Amica. I wrecked a Toyota Supra six years ago (my fault) and they took care of me better than I could have imagined, then last fall, my Lexus was rear-ended and totalled by an uninsured 17yo kid in a big dodge truck - again, Amica took care of everything. Their customer service is awesome. I just wish they did hobby car policies. Mabe if a whole bunch of enthusiasts called and asked them for it, they would do it.

when i checked their web site when i was looking they didn't have that posted as they did the previous year. their only stipulation was that it had to be garaged and you couldn't use as a daily driver or a second car, it was to be used for pleasure purposes only.

I've had my 79 insured through Hagerty for about 2 yrs now, and I've been very happy with them...Granted, I haven't had to make a claim, but I think that their terms are fantastic, and you can't beat the price. Mine is less than $250 per year for FULL coverage with no deductible.

With JC Taylor, do you have to prove you have a garage to keep the car in....?
I have JC Taylor also. Good price and no milage restriction.
I didn't have to prove that it was kept in a garage, but obviously if it gets stolen from your driveway, you better have an empty garage when the adjuster shows up.
