Is it possible to get an apprasial for insurance without having the engine casting number and block code.

I worry about some hitting me, and their insurance company argues about value.

Thanks,

When I moved to Arizona,  I set up all my insurance with one local company.  When my car arrived I took it, my records and bill of sale to my insurance rep.  I had drafted a letter stating what I had into the car and my expected value of the car.  We came to an agreed value and that is what the car has on it for insurance.  I got that in writing. I'm driving this car so, it is out there for others to hit.  I've been tapped twice since I moved here.  Really, nothing but a couple of marks on the side that polished out and a scrape down to metal on the left headlight top.

That is a nice ride you have there.  If you do plan to drive it,  you'll have to feel protected.  If not, it will take all the fun out of driving it.

Having fun in the desert.

All the best.

Vette(s): 1982 C3 Collectors Edition 44000 miles, sat in the sun most of its life, My wife purchased it for me for Father's Day in 2007 from her girlfriend that had it for 19 years. It is on the road again. I'm retired but it is now my daily driver.
I did the same as Keith.

But it was easier for me in that I have had the same independent agent for 30 years now.  I have had a number of wrecks in that time never an issue with SAFCO insurance.  When I took my 82 in it was not 25 years old but he talked the company into covering it as an antique auto.  We agreed on a mileage and value of the car.  I keep the declared value a little higher than I think I could purchase a replacement in at least as good of shape.  I have not had it on the road a lot so.  When I do start to drive it I will have to start paying more.

There are some really inexpensive plans for antique autos if you do not drive it much and keep it in a garage most of the time.  I plan on driving mine and only have a carport so none of those are applicable to me.
Really there is not much difference except you want to be able to declare a value and then pay accordingly.

Ebo come on now.  You got that red corvette hiding behind the white one.  What with the bush issue?Embarrassed

The only requirement for an appraisal is to include the VIN# - engine or block codes are not required.
I am an accredited and certified appraiser and never include them in my appraisals.

I have my house and all my vehicles insured through one local agent.  For my '80, I simply stated the value I wanted it to be insured at.  This is because I have been with this insurance company for many years and because I am the origianl owner of the car.  When I purchased my '64 last April, it had just been appraised by an official from the National Street Rod Association.  It was very detailed and I just gave a copy of the appraisal to my agent and we agreed on an amount.
