Does anyone on here have the astrotops instead of the regular glass roofs       www.astrotops.com    I was just thinking down the road rather than having to replace the tops to buy these instead. Just wondered if anyone has any experience with these.

I BOUGHT THE ASTRO GLASS ROOF BACK IN 1988. AT THE TIME THEY HAD DIFFERENT COLORS AVAILABLE. I GOT THE RED, WHICH LOOKED AWSOME ON MY CAR (RED). THE ROOFS ARE GUARANTEED NOT TO LEAK. THE FIRST TIME I DROVE THE CAR IN A SLIGHT MIST, WATER POURED THROUGH AT THE HEADER PANEL. I SOLD THE ROOF AND PUT THE GLASS T-TOPS BACK ON....NO LEAKS.

MAYBE THEY HAVE IMPROVED SINCE THEN.....JUST MY .2

What little I have heard about them was not good, they don't fit well ,they leak, and you can't store them in the car

I have one of these in my 76 and wouldn't go back to the t's. (I have them stored) I like the way it looks, the additional headroom, and the ease of removal. I can store it in the back along with my wife's purse, luggage, and a cooler on trips to say Bowling Green. It did leak some before I adjusted it in, now no problem. Besides I don't take my car out if it is threatening to rain or is raining. I have been caught in the rain and I try at all cost to prevent that. My vote is go for it, but I respect those that haven't had as good of luck. I have seen those comments before in this forum but obviously I ignored them and recommend the top.

When I bought my car it had one. I don't know how old it was but the seals were shot, it was scratched up, and the crome was coming off the plastic trim. I liked having the extra headroom but it looked bad so I got rid of it.

I have the astro top and it works fine on my 78 (the wife likes the astro top) I also have the t-tops which haven't been out of storage since I purchased the astro. I also have the rain coat top (my personal preference) the rain coat doesn't leak- folds to the size of a sun screen-and can be taken off or put on at a short traffic light stop (for those unexpected rains durring a cruiz) and most importantly it will hold on at 100mph.

I have been running the 2 piece astro tops on my 79 since 1989..
my brother (he died in 2002) ran a 1 piece astro top on his 80 for years..(Car still sits in his garage next to his 92 & 99...

Mine do not leak...BUT I really have to make then DARN tight or else they will leak
...especially at the top of the windshield... Brother said the same thing with his 1 piece top....

My only complaint is the rear lock down mechanism is kind of ...well for lack of a better term...cheap and funky...folded book of matches keeps my drivers sinde rear nice and tight...

I have both 72 & 64 Ragtops....new tops weatherstripping ect and they both leak... cars see so little rain it really does not matter...

the main problem with the astro tops is that the hardware is not really set up like factory, and they look clunky. i wanted one myself, till i actually saw one at a swap meet. ill stick to the ol fashioned LOF factory glass thank you.
