Mike;

Sorry to hear about the little ones run in with the pet, and the inevitible action taken. Had the same thing happen with my youngest daughtewr with our Alaskan Malamute. I put her down, and 3 months later got a Newfoundland, as I did not want my daughters last interaction with a family pet to be negative. The Newfie, though quite large, and somewhat goofy, is as good with children as they come.

Mike,
Sorry to hear what happened. I'm a dog lover too, but a dog just can't bite your little one.

The "goofy" Newfoundland sounds like a good dog! I have a French Bull Dog that loves everyone and everything! A 2 year old came up and pulled her ear hard and she didn't do anything. She didn't even run off. Good with kids & adults!

Newfies..."The Gentle Giants".  We had to put our Newf down at an early age because (long story short) she tore the ACL in both hind legs.  As far as being around kids and such, no problems.  Nothing bothered her and she was so laid back.  Good luck with your Newfoundland!
