Vette(s): 1969 Daytona Yellow Coupe - ZZ4/4 speed, Hurst shifter, Griffin aluminum radiator w/ Dual Spals, March Serpentine Pulley kit, Hookers with STS Racing Baffles, VB&P Suspension bits, 17" AR Hopsters, L-88 Hood
Anybody else catch the auction this year? It was amazing to see what some people will pay to get the car they want. A 1969 Corvette L88 Convertible went for $157,000 and one guy bought 4 Callaway Corvettes in a row for a grand total of $675,000.

I haven't seen the auctions, but have heard about the prices of cars being sold. As long as someone can afford it, it's their money and they can spend it as they like. But when it's MY money...well, I've been referred to as a lunatic and worse by some people. Since we all own Corvettes here, I'm sure we've all heard from others about why would we spend our money on such things. The way I look at it, it's not about "I need", it's about "I want".

Saw the auction too. Weather was nasty here, so I soaked up the TV for awhile. The Friday night show was impressive -- top 5 selling cars were all Chevys -- two were Vettes.
The prices were awesome; and the restorations looked top notch. Makes me think the prices of the Vette I own will do nothing but accelerate.

I watched it for an hour or so. It seemed like a few of the bidders were bidding with their brains buried in their rear ends. $142,000 for a Plymouth Barracuda ??? Maybe they'd give me $49,000 for my '98 Dodge Durango!

I was there when they sold the Zephr for $400,000 that cost $200,000 to build. Go figure. Yes the prices were overboard and where were the euro classics? The brass era or even pre-war cars? It is still fun to go and see what the other 2% can aford to throw money at. Also it was very cold. I almost wore a long sleeved shirt!!!
