While in the dealership my son worked at a few months ago, I noticed their State Inspection rules for North Carolina. It stated that ALL cars built 1968 and later were required to have all the emmissions in place in order to pass.
Today I read in the local news and fishwrap that the law had been recently changed, cars 35 years or older do not need to be inspected at all. Today's paper and it went into effect last October!
The speed of the Government and the liberal press, what a Match!
All my toys are now off the hook!

Seems like several states have a 25 year exemption, N.C. must be just a shde behind the times, they still test exhaust emissions on 75 and up. Kind of hard to modify a neat car around here!

The Federal boys use the 25 year standard, and most states follow that. But each state can require anything they want. 25 in Ohio, I'm clear with my C3.
Hello,
I live in MA, and when I had my 82 inspected the man told me that I had a good year. Anything after 82 had to pass smog inspection.
Kinda got me to thinkin......
See you in the Spring.

In Michigan we have no emission testing
But there have been grumblings lately about bringing them back (we had them years ago)
Hopefully they'll have the 25 year rule and I'll be free and clear

Being retired, I have been semi seriously looking for a Retirement home...
Since I own 5 Corvettes and a 68 Chevelle I have a few problems..
Of Course Taxes rates are very important ...BUT I now find that I am just as interested in the Emission Regulations in the States where I am looking to move to...
Bitch finding a "A" Frame cabin with an attached 7 car garage in a State that does not have an Income Tax nor any Emission Laws....Hell I am open even to States that
get a few winter days where the thermometer may fall to 50....
AIN't IT FUN.....
BTW...Maryland only requires emission testing in some counties...NOT ALL... and requires only cars newer then 25 years old to be tested... At one time or another MOST of my cars have been reqistered at my Brothers Place which is located in a county that does not require testing... worked for me... LOL

Currently in NJ any car 25 years or older with historic plates do not need any kind of inspection. The plates are for life (one time fee).
Owning or driving our cars may change for all of us, if what I heard on the radio today is true. It seems that a group of people are making a big stink over "high performance" cars. Due to the amount of highway deaths caused by speeders, this group wants to ban BB cars and any other fast vehicle, or tax them to the point that only the wealthy can afford them.
These idiots don't seem to understand that the car doesn't drive itself, hell, my 4 cylinder car can go over 90 !
This is the same crap that antigun people claim. The gun doesn't aim and fire itself, you need a person to make it function. We keep this up, we'll be told what clothes to wear.
