I am getting ready to start bolting things back onto my frame and have a dilemma.  The previous owner had done much of the dissasembly on the car before I bought it so the bolts are scattered everywhere.  I would like to replace all of the bolts anyways so this wont be that big of a problem, my problem is finding the bolts that I need.  I have seen kits from totally stainless, but they dont seem to have anything for a '73.  Are there any complete sets out there so I can avoid several hundred trips to the hardware store?

What bolts are you speaking of, most standard hardware bolts are grade 2 , you need 5 through 8 especialy when it comes to mechanical and suspension, which could get expensive, the only sets I know of are engine and drive train after market sets, I take that back, Paragon might have some speciality sets. if you have the GM stock bolts and theres nothing wrong with them and all they need is to be wire wheeled, I believe there is a restoration manual that tells you where they go according the markings on them, which manual I don't know. anips38500.6033564815

Many of the suspension bolts are cut so they will have to be replaced.  Thats what im going to start working on for now so I'll need them first.

check with Dr. Rebuild, I believe he might have bolt kits also.

Vette(s): 1971 T-top. I just had car shipped from my parents house in florida where it has sat for over 12 years..It is going to be a long project!
Ive made about 20 trips to the local ace hardware... Its a good thing it is only about 1 mile away.  The only bolt I couldnt get so far from them is the A arm bolt.  It was a 7/16 x 2 1/4.  Price on most is good for all grade 8.

Well I know that Corvette Central offers a complete hardware kit for the rear.  don't know about the front.

Another suggestion would be to restore the existing hardware.  There are lots of places that do this for people who are restoring their cars.  If you give me some time I might be able to give you a source of a guy who restored several cars for Holley.

You just need to know what went where.

If you bead blast the hardware you can purchase the same black phosphate the factory used. To get the chemical reaction and factory like finish, fire up your gas grill with a big pot, throw the bead blasted parts in and let them cook!

Let em cook for a while and then let them cool off. Then you will have a black phosphate finish just like the factory. You can also rub them down with a little oil(I prefer a very light coating of lithium grease) just to seal the finish up a little.

Also, does anyone know of a refrence where you can use the part numbers in the AIM to find the size and grade of bolts that the factory used?

Don't know if this helps, but the 'Paragon' catalog usually has a section on different fasteners, and tells where they go, the markings, sizes, finishes, etc. Might help you with some of it.
