does anyone out there have a bra/mask on their shark?  i've been kicking the idea around about putting one on mine because my front bumper cover has just recieved it's second horrible-looking crack.  right now, a new bumper and paint aren't any where near my budget, but i can probably round up enough $$ for a bra to cover the hideous eyesore for this summer anyway.

just curious to see if many people have them and what their thoughts are on them.  also, any pics of their car with the bra on it would be great to see as i'm am still trying to figure out how it would look on mine.

thanks,

jeff

Jeff,

I have one on mine, just installed it. I first put down 3M clear mask strips then layed on the leather bra. I will send you some pictures. I also used the 3M clear mask on the front spoiler to protect from rock chips, also on the doors where you push in on the handle just below were you thumb would mark the paint, and at the fuel tank where the fueling nozzle would rest. That about does it. I have tested it at 118 MPH, no rubbing or peel back..I'am good to go..Also on the front and rear of the side exhaust to protect the chrome cover..Terry

I some what agree Ron, but, when you just paid for an $8000 paint job and you are going to travel 10,000 miles it is a good way to protect the front end from rock chips..In my opinion..Jeff, look at the pictures and  you judge..

Jeff, if you aren't planning on painting it for a while, and the bumper cover is cracked anyway, go for it!!
I put one on my '74 once when we went to the museum, to try to limit the damage from rocks. Bad idea for me!! It wore some spots on the clear-coat, around the emblem. Man was I pi^%#$%ed!!!
Don't know if Terry's way will keep it from damaging his NEW PAINT, but we'll find out in a couple of weeks, eh Terry?!
If you have clear coat, at least it can be buffed, or even sanded out, if it does any damage from abrasion. Adams' Apple38872.6916666667

Yes I'll be the test case, I think I protected the clear coat with the 3M mask product..I just hope I can get it off??As Joel said, we'll see in a couple of weeks.. What have I done??

Terry, I think the clear mask stuff may be the answer to this problem. Make sure, tho, that the paint is clean, and waxed before putting it on. Any dirt/funky crap under it is gonna be like sandpaper on yer paint. If it works out on your long trip, then I'll change my opinion on bras, as far as newer paint is concerned. Be prepared for some scrutiny on it in PF!!!

Not I, with my black paint I don't think they could make a material soft enough on the back to not scratch that black  Plus I don't think they make on to fit over the Pace Car front spoiler.

Sure they do, Mark. Just order up a "DD" cup!!!
The bra doesn't go far enough down under the front to interfere with the spoiler, anyway, but....I hear ya on the black paint!!!

Terry, You don't have to worry about rock chips in the mountains of NC and TN. Your main concern should be boulders rolling down the mountains. I have never been to Knoxville without seeing a portion of I-40 being closed due to a rock slide.
