Vette(s): 1965-327 coupe, 1968-small block coupe, 1969-427, 1971-454 coupe and currently a 1976-ZZ4 coupe reborn again,and hotter than ever.. Add a 1996 CE LT-4 for backup
Blingin, OK..Ya know everybody is worried about the movement of the bra and what it does underneath the bra. Thats why I put the Clear Mask under the bra, if I have movement it will be on the Clear mask and not the Clear Coat..That's my thinking anyway.. spielman538873.3380555556

Vette(s): 1960 (got wiped out in the Rapid City flood of 72), 1968 roadster(sold it so I could buy the 71), 1971 Coupe Chromed almost everything underneath. Had it since "76"
A little trick I use is the 3M green masking tape. I put it between the bra and the paint around the edges. It stays put in wet or hot dry conditions. Lasts 4 or 5 days then just peal it off. Don't leave any residue. When I get to where I'm going I take the bra off and wash it in the shower or car wash and hang it up to dry in motel room until I'm ready to go again. Does not leave and marks from where the wind blows the edge around and when you wash it up every time it gets the fine sand out of the edge of the bra. Works for me. try it, unless you don't like the color of green tape on your car.

If it's not painted, Chrome it!!!

Terry, I believe you chose wisely.  I met a guy in my vette club, just the other day and he has that 3M clear protector on his vette.  He has no paint damage from his bra over the 3M protector.  He also said that the 3M stuff comes off easy and won't hurt your paint.  His C4 is immaculate!

Hey, that's encouragement, I feel a lot better now..I think I'll add some more 3M clear mask now.. Yea, over the head lights, may have to drive through smoke in a state that's burning up!! You don't think the 3M will protect from deer in the mountains?? Naw, how about little bunnies in the road, there goes the front spoiler..O'Boy..
Jeff, if you aren't planning on painting it for a while, and the bumper cover is cracked anyway, go for it!!
I put one on my '74 once when we went to the museum, to try to limit the damage from rocks. Bad idea for me!! It wore some spots on the clear-coat, around the emblem. Man was I pi^%#$%ed!!!
Don't know if Terry's way will keep it from damaging his NEW PAINT, but we'll find out in a couple of weeks, eh Terry?!
If you have clear coat, at least it can be buffed, or even sanded out, if it does any damage from abrasion.
when i first got my 79, it had a bra on it too to hide a nasty stain/blemish on the nose. it had more damage to the paint from having it on than what it was supposed to cover up. my personal opinion is that the problem was made worse with the bra on the car. i think youre better off without it.  and for gods sake NEVER LEAVE THOSE DAMN THINGS ON FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME!! youll get lotsa wear marks anywhere there is rubbing!

well since terry is our newest "test subject" (thanks terry ).  i'll wait to see what he thinks after the trip.

thanks everyone for all of your thoughts.  to be honest, i didn't think i'd have to take it off as much as you all are saying.  i'm pretty lazy and it seems like a lot of work.

i'm looking forward to hearing how you make out with it terry.

Terry, We'll try to throw alot of stuff at your vette while we drive to PF.   I'll even try to toss those big rocks at you too...

To me I don't use those bra stuff.   All though I would if I had a new paint on the vette like Terry's.
