Vette(s): 69 L36 convertible, 4 speed w/factory side exhaust
I am the new proud owner of a 1969 L36 convertible! I really have "the fever" and am trying to find out everything I can about my car

I was able to reach up and find/remove which appears to be the only remaining piece of my gas tank build sheet/sticker (not sure exactly that you call it). I have the upper left hand corner portion of the sheet which I am trying to decifer

Couple of questions:

Top right hand block says:
Ident. No
287237
What is this and what does it mean?

Block below that says:
Model
19467
Which I understand means this is a convertible

Below that is a column which says "Equip. Code" but it appears that nothing is in this column or all the writing has worn off

To the right of this is a Column which says "Option No", this is where the sheet is torn/stops, but I can read some of the codes, here's where the majority of my questions come in:
1. All codes start with 02 and appear to be followed by at least one A (i.e. 02xxxA). What does this mean and am I correct that these are the option codes?
2. The codes appear to be broken up into groups, meaning that their appears to be blank lines between groupings of the codes. Are these codes grouped/listed in any particular order?
3. I have researched the codes (or what I beleive to be codes) to the best of my beginner ability, but can clearly see parts of some codes that I don't find anywhere. So, what would:
02CO5A.. be? It proceeds 02CO7 which I understand is the hardtop option which I didn't know the car even originally had. Also, lower down in another "grouping" i can clearly see 02CO (but that's all I can make out) after 02AO

Here is the listing (with the spaces) I can make out (x's are letters/numbers between other numbers/letters I can make out, and what I think the options are/may be. Verification and corrections are greatly appreciated

Option No
02xxxAA - ?
02xxxAA - ?

xxGxxxx - positraction (only G code - but this writing is very faint and may be something else)
02M21xx - close ratio 4 speed
02PT6A - red stripe tire
02CO5A - ?
02CO7A - hardtop
02U69 - AM-FM Radio

02AO - tinted glass
02CO - ?
02G - ?
02 - ?
02N - ? (car has side exhaust and power steering
02T - Louver trim (only T code and car has them)
xxxxx - ?
x2 - ?

Again any assistance is appreciated. I am excited that the car may have.originally had an M21 transmission (was told it was the M20) Is there a way to verify this looking at the transmission - assuming the original tranny is still in the car?

Apoligize if these questions aren't appropriate for this forum, but I am new to all this and am thirsting for knowledge.

Dwayne,

I'm sure there are a couple of guys here who can answer most of your questions. Until they wake up tomorrow, you might want to click on "Tools" at the top of the page, then "C3 stats", then "1969" on the left of the page. That will give you the codes for all the options offered on the 69.

Hope this helps until  Joel wakes up.

On your positraction your code should be 02G81xx  for all ratios positraction rear axle.  not sure what xx are.

If you have the black book.   That will help you on some too.

Your block should have one of these:  3935439, 3955270 or 3963512

Hope you get your information.   Joel and the rest should be able to help you.

Thanks to all for the responses so far.  Just to clarify, the xx's are what I assume are spaces with letters/numbers but I can't make out.

I am most interested in whether there is a pattern to the option code groupings that can help me figure out the one's I can see very well or only have a part code, and the code that starts with 02C05Ax - can't seems to find anything about this.

Again, thanks to all for your help.  My wife is strongly suggesting I seek psychatric attention

Hey....I'm awake...

I can't do much good on this one. I do have some info on how some of the "order copies" were written, and what some of the codes are, but I'll have to do some digging to see if I have anything on the '69 cars.

I do know of some folks that have scanned the build sheets into the computer, and have used several kinds of software to bring out some of the un-readable info. I'll see if I can dig that info up...

Update...
I have looked, and the info I have is on '73 and later cars, and the sheets were changed in '73.
I have enlisted the help of the paper gurus at the NCRS tech board.
Is it possible for you to scan the document, and maybe e-mail a copy to me, or post it here? That would help a bunch! Adams' Apple38919.7421412037

I really appreciate all the help and suggestions!

Ten15 the scan of your sheet really helps as it confirms that there was an order to the items listed, at least at the standard items - trim, engine, etc.  It also appears that the Cmfort and Convience options at the bottom at are in alpha first and numeric order second.  So by the process of elimination it have been able to figure a lot of these out.

AA's suggestion of scanning the document also helped on a couple of fronts.  First I have preserved the document because if I keep handling it at the current rate it wil all be crumbs!  Secondly I was able to adjust the clor and enlarge image to better see some of the numbers/letters.  I feel like I am on CSI!

Here is the little bit of the sheet that I have, which is embarassing compared to Ten15's.  Any insight is greatly appreciated!

Hopefully this will work as I am still trying to figure out how to do al this stuff.  You;ll need to enlarge to see the codes

That's a start!
I think, tho, if you pull the gas tank, you may be able to see/remove some of the rest of this.
Make sure you do store what you have very carefully, so you can preserve it.

I will forward this pic to the '69 gurus, and see if they can help!

Here is what I got, so far...

Joel------

Well, there is sure not a lot to work with here. However, I think that we can get quite a bit out of it

convertible (19467)

engine: either 350 hp/350 or 390 hp/427. I can't make out the first digit of the numerical portion of the engine code. It's either L-36 (390 hp/427) or L-46 (350 hp/350). I'd say that it's more likely L-36, but I can't be sure.

transmission: close ratio 4 speed (M21)

positraction axle of unknown ratio (G???)

other options:

hardtop (C07)

black soft top (C05)

red stripe tires (PT6)

mono radio (U69)

tinted glass all windows (A0?)

power steering and/or tilt/tele wheel (N??) The car had one or both of these options. One line where I would expect to see one of the options is completely gone. For the other line I can only discern an "N"

front fender louver trim (T??) Although only a "T" can be seen, the only possibility here is the TJ2 louver trim

The car may have had a few other options, but I cannot read them, at all.
