I got mine off of my car over 15 years ago while fixing a gas tank leak. It came off intact and is still very legible, The one mistake I made was to press it in an album. It's still legible, but is now stuck to the page and cannot be removed. I did however scan it and stored it on my hard drive. When I finished the frame portion of the resto, I printed a copy of it and re-attached it to the tank. I then aprayed a generous amount of clear on it to further protect it. I'll make more copies as work progresses on the car and put them inside as well.
