I've parted out a lot of cars, but never one thats been burned out. I spotted an ad for a 69 that was in a garage fire.

I really don't know how well various parts survive a blaze. That smog pump tho looks pretty juicy. Also, I'm thinking the frame and much of the undercarriage might be useful if its not rusted. Anyone have any insight or experience with salvaging a burned out vette?

Paul, that is just scary to think about, especially on Halloween. Really is hard see pics of a burned out vette, almost obscene.

The engine looks much better than the exterior. Kinda looks like an overdone marshmellow on a campfire.

I would think that most of the cast iron stuff will still be ok, like the engine case, heads, intake, etc. Sounds logical to me. You could use that stuff for a rebuild.

That is just plain grusome lookin' at that poor burned out '69........ouch!

Looks like the major fire was at the rear/center of the car. I'd suspect the engine itself would prolly be undamaged by the blaze, other than gaskets/seals. If you notice, the upper radiator hose is still in-tact. I'd also bet the frame is unharmed, structurally.
Some of the ancillary stuff might be salvageable, also, such as the alt., smog pump, etc., but those parts might also need to be rebuilt/reconditioned before use. Any of the sheet-metal stuff, like hood latches, plug wire shielding, vacuum actuators, etc., would prolly not be recoverable...
