Hello All!
|UPDATED|5/19/2014 9:15:55 AM (AZT)|/UPDATED|
1st time I'm posting to the site! I'm a newbie. Just purchased my first 1973 Corvette C3 350 L-48 auto.
I read through a bunch of posts here and had a blast decoding my VIN# and Paint Tag. What I came up with is:
Vin #: 1Z37J3S418986
1 = Chevy Division, Z = Corvette, 37 = Coupe, J = L48 Engine, 3 = 1973, S = St. Louis Assembly, 418986 = Production Sequence starting at 400001-434464 (Roughly my car was the 18985th car built in 1973)
Paint Tag:
ChevroletH28 (H = Body Build in March 1973)
Trim 425 = Dark Red Vinyl Interior
976 Paint = Mille Miglia Red
My question is about the Trim 425. According to my research it is Dark Red Vinyl, but when I visit Eckler's Corvette, they list interior parts colored either OXBLOOD or RED. Can someone assist?

They may only list what they have in stock. You may want to call them and ask if they have renamed the color.
OOPS, Welcome to the forums!!

Don't forget to check with all our supporting vendors. I checked a couple and got the same results as you. You'll begin to notice that many vendors have the same wholesalers. Just keep searching. Welcome.

Thank you for the welcome!
Sorry guys, for the HUGE paint tag pic. Don't know how that happened...
I will call Eckler's and see if they renamed 425 Dark Red to Oxblood. Although, a simple Google Image searcg shows Oxblood being no where near the color of my interior.
I will also continue to search other vendors for 425 Dark Red.
Thanks!

Welcome to the forum! You should have stopped by the annual gathering in Appleton since we were basically in your back yard.

Thank you! She photographs well. There are quite a few imperfections outside and in.
I think where ever she was stored had a window that allowed sunlight to constantly beat on her back driver's side area above thee wheel well and by thhe luggage rack. Lots of orange peel in that area :( Inside, interior needs to be replaced.
I would have LOVED to tend the Appleton WI event....but I do not have plates yet. Collector plates take FOREVER! Well maybe 1.5 months total but seemingly forever when it's your first classic Vette. I'm climbing the walls over here!

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the purchase.
I drove right past you on Wednesday morning onmy way to Appleton. Too much construction on I94 forced me to drive along the lake. Glad I did.
Most interiors come from Corvette America in PA and Mid-America in IL. Check them out.

Welcome to the best C-3 site in the world!! I live in Oak Creek. I would love to meet up with you sometime to "talk shop"
I did see just "red" on Corvette America, but not Dark Red. I will check the other site you mentioned then start making calls.
Driving the lake front here is great! Scenic, no traffic and lots of classics in the summer. Took my daughter to the lake this afternoon. She really wanted to drive in Red Velvet (she named the C3 that) but doesn't understand the concept of going to jail for driving without plates. I don't know who wants them to come in more, me or her!
