I have a 1973 Elkhart Green Big Block coupe and I am wondering how to
find out if there is a way to find out how many Elkhart Green Big block
coupes with an automatic transmission were produced for that year.
Does anyone know how I would find out?

Well...lesse...
In 1973 there were 3494 LS4 big blocks made ...
25,146 automatics...
No way to know how many of the Elkhart Green cars there were. Records have not surfaced to show the paint quantities, as of yet, and they may never.
In '72, there were 3295 E green cars built, so one could assume close to the same number in '73, but who knows?
Gm just didn't keep records on stuff like this back then, as it wasn't important to the bottom line...$$$$

I know that in 1973 there were 30,464 corvettes in production and
25,521 were coupes with 4,943 that were convertible with LS4 engines
there were 4,412 according to the corvette black book. I know
that the GM records were somehow lost because of a Law suit made by
Ralph Nader. I was just wondering if somehow thru the back door someone
new the answer. It seems if you just go by percentages then I guess
there were about 200-250 Elkhart Green Corvettes that were equiped with
the big block and auto trans coupe.
I appreciate any responses

In my database of 1973's have have 6 coupes w/ BB & AT in Green exterior color. I have a total of 1866 '73's listed. That gives 0.32% produced as noted assuming my records are evenly record, which I am certain they are not.
BTW; send me your Corvette's information for inclusion. rms0990@comcast.net

Honest answer? You probably will never know for certain. The records do not exist. The best you can do is to regress the numbers in The Corvette Black Book with the additional problem of the absence of exterior color documentation for '73. After the math, you will have an approximate number of Elkhart Green big blocks with AT, but it will always be a guess-timate.

Vette(s): 1972 conv, 4-speed, 350, 200hp, numbers match, rally wheels, war bonnett yellow w/white top. good condition, nice driver.
GaMornin Sir, Here is a production question for you. I have a 72' conv, in war bonnett yellow, base car. I have located the tank sticker and it is VERY humble. Some of the info is there, but not all. IS there a way of re-producing the sticker? I have most of it removed, some is GONE WITH THE WIND, some is stuck beyond removal.
Also is there a way to reconstruct what I have for history of the buggy? THANKS

No. The original tank sticker is a one-of-a-kind document specific to that particular vehicle. You are lucky to have found what you have.

Yes, provided you can obtain additional factory documentation from previous owners of the car or through a title search. An original window sticker would help you considerably. The information on the tank sticker and the window sticker was essentially the same (both were created from the same 7 page Corvette Order) with the exception the window sticker contained the VIN, prices for the options, and where the car was to be shipped. Ditto for the original vehicle invoice. It contained all the options/pricing information, the shipping information, and the date the invoice was prepared and expected date of delivery to the receiving dealer.
GM records for the early cars (68-76) do not exist. 77-80 owners might be able to obtain a copy of the dealer invoice from Allied-Vaughn. http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/infosearch/index.php?cmd=area
Owners of Bowling Green built cars might be able to obtain copies of their build sheets from the National Corvette Museum.
Good luck with the hunt.

Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses.

Given certain information, there are places that will reproduce tank stickers and window stickers. Check the archives here (search "Tank Sticker").
Also, the tank sticker may show the destination dealer. Mine from '74 did.
If you know your options, there are also places that make very nice reproduction window stickers.
I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

Careful here. The folks who say they will "reproduce" your tank sticker or window sitcker rely upon you to provide the information; they only print what you send them.
I've never owned an ZL-1, but I could provide the required information to the reprint folks and receive a tank and window sticker for one.
