C5's are really nice! I go with addition too, but if you have the bug, it hard to get rid of it. Couldn't blame you if you can only handle one and you picked the C5, but you have to guarantee us that you'll wave!

If you can't do "in addition too", then it becomes a matter of trading character for performance. The "new" ones:
- out accelerate a C3 hands down.
- out handle a C3 hands down.
- are much more comfortable than a C3
They are also:
- like bellybuttons; everybody AND their uncle has one.
- they depreciate like crazy
- they can't roll into a car show without being scoffed at
- AND, everyone you come up against has the same performance unless your have spent THOUSANDS upgrading yours.
Its the same old story, The Best versus the old and, the outrageously expensive toy versus the one you don't feel guilty about.
It's all a matter of taste.

Adam, You need at least two to go anywhere in style with the growing family.
Definately make it 'in addition to.'
I hear you though - I've been seriously thinking about how I can finagle a C5 into the fleet without having to make either the C2, C3 or C4 disappear first. I think that Greg will pull spousal veto power to any scheme I come up with.... which will mean the C4 will get sacrificed... THough for a daily driver a C5 will probably be more cush than my old C4.... It's tempting I'll admit.

Its all a matter of why you bought it and what you want. I vote for in addition to if you have the space. If it is daily transportation, no question, newer is better. For me, a C3 is style. It is a place in time that doesn't exist anymore. When I drive my C3 I feel good, I feel the road, it feels like a real car. To me newer cars including C4 are too plush and isolated from the road. There is not a day that goes by that I'm not thankfull to own her. However, I would not mind adding another one to the stable, C3, C4, or C5.

Just because you would be a C5 owner doesn't mean you can't still love the C3's. We bought a C5 this summer and it's a fantastic car. A totally different ride than our 80. But I still love them both. My opinion is a Vette is a Vette is a Vette!

Well the first vette that I bought was a DBGM C5. I couldn't fit comfortably into a C3 behind the wheel. Our "newest" vette Sassi is a 74 coupe. My wife is very comfortable behind the wheel & we discovered the tilt/tele option so that I will be able to drive her comfortably too.
Although I have modified my C5 quite a bit. I find that finding parts for Sassi has been a lot of fun too. She is a work in progress.

I vote for "in addition to" as well. The difference is night and day in terms of creature features, handling and performance. However, nothing beats the looks I get in the C3!
My 77 will never be worth a ton of money, but it will appreciate each year. And, to me, the C3 body style is what most people think of when they hear "Corvette."
My C5 is fun to drive, but as someone mentioned, there are a lot of them out there. Not too many C3s in my "neck of the woods."
