Does anyone have experience with Scissor Lifts?  I would like to invest in one but do not want any of the cheap offshore made ones.    BENDPAC is suppose to be good but it is a combination US made and Asian (but the vendor won't say which parts are Asian).  I don't want a system that is cheap and going to drop the car.  Workhorse is cheaper but all Asian made.  The PRO 6MR (sold by Greg Smith Equipment) has not responded to my inquiry about US vs Asian.

Any recommendations?

They're otay if you don't plan on getting underneath them to work. If you're only gonna do wheel/brake stuff, or just don't like bending over to detail the lower parts of the body, they're great!

I have used a few in the past, but I couldn't say who made them, or where they were sourced...they were all pretty scary, imho.

Hopefully some member here has more info on safe ones...

I am looking for a simple to use lift for doing front suspension/steering work as well as rotors, starters, etc.  I don't really have the space to install a 4-poster (nor the money).  I definitly want something safe....right now I have the C4 on 4 jack stands but I had to balance the frame parallel to the jack stand (if I put the jack stands on the frame correctly they would crush the brake lines and fuel line which run tight along the frame)....needless to say, a strong push on the side of the car and it would drop off the jack stands.

I have the jack stands positioned where the shop manual indicated (behind the front wheels and infront of the rear wheels).  Is there a better place to put the stands???

The other choice of lifts is the "KWIKLIFT" but it only get the car about 20 inches off the ground (the scissor lift is 48 inches).  The KWIKLIFT also is a drive on lift so the weight is always on the wheels unless you purchase the cross frame and use a bottle jack to take the weight off the wheels.

I don't know anything about them, but I was researching lifts for my garage and found a local dealer.  If you're in McKinney, its not too far.  Mabe they'd have demo models you could actually look at for yourself before you buy.  I'd hate to order something like over the internet that would have to be freighted out if I didn't like it after it was delivered.  Return policies on stuff like this are usually not too friendly.

Thanks Phil, I will give them a call and see if they have any on display.  Be great if they would have one to try on my car to see how stable they are.

If anyone else has had any experience with these, please let me know.  It will be a few weeks before I can get down to this place.
