I've had my 82 for about 7 years now. The color is Burgundy with a light grey interior.

I learned through my VIN that my car has an L98 engine. Didn't all 82s come with L83s?

Also, I'm not finding it anywhere that 82s were available with a Light Grey (Coral?) interior.

I know the Burgundy body color is not original. How do I determine the original color? There is no spec plate o the driver side door jamb, but there is an aluminum plate on the body with some numbers next to the hinges. Is that supposed to tell me anything?

Hello Ron !
on the trim tag or plate you have TRIM :000 interior code color

Paint: 000 exterior code
On a 82 model you have 12 color code:

19 black - 10 classic white - 13 silver metallic - 24 silver blue metallic - 26 bright blue metallic b/c - 31 bright blue metallic - 39 charcoal metalliv - 40 silver green metallic - 56 gold metallic - 59 silver beige metallic - 70 spectra red - 99 dark claret metallic.

also you have 2 tone like
10/13 13/39 13/99 24/26.
if you want to see a trim tag go to www.trimtags.com
hope that will help you.

Ron,

Found this on another site regarding colors for your '82:

Standard body colors were: white, red, black, metallic charcoal, silver, silver blue, silver green, dark blue, gold and dark claret. Four two-tones were also available.
Interior color choices were: dark red, charcoal, dark blue, camel, silver gray, silver beige, and silver green.

The plate you mentioned should be the trim plate. On there should be the exterior color, the interior trim and color, and build date. I don't have a good picture I could post to show the plate, but maybe someone else does. Or try the site Normand mentioned for trim tags.

Vette(s): Re-acquired 1982 Bright Blue Vette from the guy a sold it to 13 years ago. 1993 40th Anniv. Ruby Convertible- purchased for my wifes 40th birthday-It has Chromed Grand Sport Wheels, Grand Sport Flares and a functional rollbar.
Have you run your VIN number through the VIN decoder in the tools section of this website? As far as I know the only engine offered on the 1982 Corvettes was the 200hp Crossfire Injection which was code L83. L98 was the code for the 1981 model I think.
