I haven't used a CB radio in years, though I still have a base station and a handheld 40-channel unit.  They're not the common thing as they were back in the '70s and '80s, though I imagine truckers probably still use them.

I don't even remember the handle I used it's been so long...still remember the call sign I was assigned by the FCC...back when one was required to have a call sign.

There wouldn't be much point in drilling holes in a Vette for an antenna anyway...no metal for a ground plane.  It would take a special antenna to work properly.

Gunslinger is a good handle.    I made a mount coming off the right rear frame rail.    Stuck a fiberglass whip on it and ran my coax in a drain hope.  Now it looks like a big radio control car.   I didn't want to hurt zoom zoom.   Thats what I call my car.    I have some trouble.    When I key my radio the lights come on in the car the rear defroster comes on too.    Its funny the light go up and down in brightness as I talk.    I'm also a malcontent  with a big gun collection.  I found spell check.   I'm trying To put some light in so you can read my mess.    I hope it helps

I have a gun collection as well...Colts, 1903 Springfields, M1 Garands, 1941 Johnson's, Weatherby's and whatever else interests me, though I'm considering selling off much of the collection after thirty years of it.  Priorities change and it's time to find homes for some of them.

I use a cb when the club goes on a cruise or run. That way we keep in touch and stay together as a group. FYI, there was this one time this rice rocket and its driver was trying to pull a fast move on a couple of our Vettes, which were in line (tried to cut in). We I piped up that we need to keep a tight line and NOT let him in to cut us off. So by doing this we stayed in line and he had to test his brakes a bit so he could stopping from kissing the big rig in the slow lane.
So as you can see, cb's work just fine when traveling in a group.  just my .02

Man, I haven't used a CB Radio in E-Ons!!!ShockedLOL  I believe the previous owner had one in mine because I found this weird wire that was not supposed to be in there under the dash........took it out.  I figure that a CB didn't come as an option in '69 so I decided to chunk it.  Now days, it's the GPS, but that does not mean I'm puttin' one of them in my baby.doh
