I just replaced my wiper motor. Now the wipers work, but when I started the car back up I have vacuum problems. The wiper door has to be manually raised for them to work and the headlights finally opened after several minutes and very slowly. Now the left one wont go down. The right one goes down, but only comes up with help. What is the first thing to check? Does the vacuum tank have to charge up for a while after the hoses have been disconnected? Everything worked fine before I changed the wiper motor. Thanks for your help.

Definitely need to double-check your vacuum lines from the engine, around the rear of the carb....right in the same area as the wiper motor. May have knocked one loose or something like that. The vac tank will need a few seconds to replenish, but it shouldn't take more than 45 second to a minute, at the most...depending on the cam, and how well the engine idles.

Thanks, Joel, I'll check more carefully in that area tonight.

Thanks, guys, it was the line coming out of the motor under the carb. I had it smashed behind the new wiper motor. Thanks for your help!

Maybe a new check valve and filter in the vacuum line may help also.
