Who would have guessed... That I could get the tires to 'chirp' on a stock L48 with an
automatic tranny
A few weeks ago I posted that the tranny was in bad shape and it was going to be rebuilt. Well, its rebuilt and working great. Can all stock L48's get a little chirp out of the tires when the tranny shifts from 1st to 2nd? Yes, I was getting on it hard and no, I didn't manually shift it.
I thought it was pretty cool
I think I'm gonna have to do something with the anemic

Don't you love that sound, I think it is so great. Mine couldn't do it up until the past winter when I added a shift kit. Did they put a shift kit in for you or is the chirp from everything being so new? I'd like to get my tranny rebuilt at some point.

Sounds good. Its always nice to have someone who owns another vette working on yours because he can probably relate to how much it means to you!

Vette(s): 1979 Black coupe. 11256 original, documented, miles on it when I bought it in April of 2000. It now has 13100 on it. Oyster interior, like new. Everything original, everything works, except the clock. Paint has a couple of minor flaws.
Mine runs real good for a stock L-48, but it won't chirp the tires from a dead stop. They will spin, but don't make hardly any noise at all. Must make a difference on what brand of tires. I'm running Good Year GTII's.

I'm running those as well. They are really nice tires.
