I jumped in the 77,( Thats "wheres Shark'n" for Tux) backed out of the garage , eased it in drive and headed out the driveway. At the end of the drive, no traffic so I eased out in the road. I ran it up to about 60 and proceeded into town. When I got to town at the first stop light i eased on the brake and it went effortlessly to the floor. I do love good engine compression and a good shift kit in a turbo 400. I was able to get it slowed enough to get through the light and back home . The best I can figure out , the master cylinder is pouring out fluid from around the cap. I will look at it closer when I get he new garage doors on and warmed up in there. Theres no fluid around the wheel areas but the engine compartment under the master cylinder got a bath... Nothing I can do now but wait for warmer times to mess with it. I still don't know how I got from point A to the intersection without pumping my brake at least once. This car has not been sitting , it gets drove at least every week or so. I sure am racking up the projects to break in the new garage.
I had a kit put in the QJ on the 71 and now when I go to start it, all the gas has leaked back to the tank it seems.. I might just buy a new QJ and be done with it. It also has a miss at idle that acts like a vacuum leak, I can't find a leak. It has all new hoses and gaskets and was doing fine until the QJ rebuild. It runs fine once it starts above idle speed, runs like a scared rabbit on the road.

Mr. Nutz.... do me a favor and run your grubby little paw along the bottom of your brake booster. I am betting this devil might be rotted out and your fluid has escaped you through the back door. Unless your MC has fluid dripping from the sides and underneath of it...

Thanks, I will check that too.
It is coming from around the cover for sure but it might not just be coming from there. The gasket thingy under the cover doesn't seem to be the right one for it or its soaked in something and really disfigured. I might just replace the whole thing to make sure I got it
.

Thats John Deere country, make sure your engine does not come back John Deere green and yellow.

I made a call to a guy I know from near there, he says the have a good local reputation as far as he knows. He personally has never had any dealings with them.
If they burn you just yell and Tux and I will go up there and kick their A$$

Nexy time I am up that way I will stop in, It will be August as far as I know before I am up there again. Thanks for the information, I will keep them in mind for the future.

Scott,
That's bad news, good news.
No brakes, no collision.
Hope it is an easy fix for ya.

cj5, about the 71 QJ replacing it is the best option I did so a few years back and all carb problems including leaks, idle, and accl pump when away. They are expensive but they are a great cure for fuel problems. Thanks

I think that will be the easiest and best in the long run too. I don't have a lot of $$ but I have less patience with things like that.
