Last night I finally got my C3 back on the road. Its been up on jackstands for a while as I fixed the brakes. I wanted to take it for a little, light drive because it hadn't run in weeks. As soon as I pull out of my driveway a newer Mustang (94ish) comes flying up near 100mph and gets directly on my bumper and rode me like that for about a half mile. Usually I'd of hit the gas and been off to the races, but I pulled off on the next road possible because I knew if I did I'd break something else since its been sitting so long. I'm glad I did too, because something with the suspension was making quite a bit of noise too. Redoing the brakes made me realize that I should hold off on the performance items, such as a cam, new heads, larger gears, yadda yadda yadda... and work on getting the suspension rebuilt. My plan is to do a little at a time with the bulk of it this winter after I get my garage fixed up. Judging from the condition of the bushings and such I would easily break something by beefing up the engine without taking care of the suspension. I can't wait to get that over with though because I want some more power mods. My town is overrun with high school kids with Mustangs that know nothing about cars, get an exhaust put on and think they have a racecar, and they give everyone a hard time on the road. Especially me since I am the youngest person around with a C3. I've had enough, next summer I'm going to open a can on them. Or maybe a bottle of NOS!! |laugh|

I really feel sorry for you. I know the feeling. I usually always go off to the races too. The young guys just cant resist picking on an old man in a Vette. Most of the time, I just wave to them as I pull away. Isnt it great to know that you can do that? VVVRRRROOOOOOMMMMM |laugh|

Out here my problem is all the freakin RICE! I saw this distress orange thing the other day. He wanted to race me in my rental which is an Olds Alero the weenie! The kid musta been no more than like 20. Wish I would've had my Vette, she's slow and she usually beats them every time. Depends on what they got....I try not to race too much. Hardly ever....Too afraid of breaking something! |biggrin|

Darla,
I can't imagine what its like in California. The rice burners are getting bad her in NJ so I don't want to even think about how many are out there. I wouldn't be able to go for a drive without someone wanting to race. It happens about everytime I leave my driveway. That is another reason my sister doesn't drive my car when I'm away. She said younger kids were giving her such a hard time on the road that she couldn't deal with it. I can't wait to graduate and get a full time job (well, the money anyway, I'd rather stay in school), but I'm going to drop in a 454 GM crate engine, Hooker Headers and sidepipes, and probably a bottle of NOS for extreme cases. After that I think the punks around here won't be bold enough to step up to the plate, but if they do its going to be over short and quick. I'm not one for long high speed races, I'd rather put them in their place right away.
