Does anyone have collector car insurance on their Vette? I know that J.C. Taylor has been around forever, but has anyone had experience with any other companies that provide this type of insurance?

I use Condon & Skelly for my '71. (800) 257-9496. They charge me $220/year with $0 deductible including towing. We mutually agreed on a "insured replacement value." Only stipulations are that the car be in a secure garage that has a fire extinguisher, that I not drive it more than 2,500 miles/year, and that my driving record is clean (1 ticket & it goes up 20% -- 2 tickets = 40%). They represent MetLife who underwrites the policy. I was referred to them by American Express Property Casualty who insure my Durango. Glad to help!

Hey Joe, thanks for the info - I'll give them a call. Nice 71 you've got!
I just took out a policy, for $180.00 per year, from Great
American Insurance Group at P O Box 429569, Cincinnati, Ohio
45242-5233. They were recommended by Geico. We also agreed on the
value of the vehicle, and stipulated that it was stored in a
secure garage. There phone # is 1-800-252-5233 and e-mail is

Vette(s): 1979 Black coupe. 11256 original, documented, miles on it when I bought it in April of 2000. It now has 13100 on it. Oyster interior, like new. Everything original, everything works, except the clock. Paint has a couple of minor flaws.
My vette is insured by cincinnati ins co. The cost is $189 a year, with $50 deductible for collision, and comp. We agreed to a value of $15,000. and I don't drive it more than 4000 miles a year. It also has to be parked in a garage when not being driven.
I have owned the car for 3 years, and have only put 2500 miles on it. I'm usually too busy to drive it much.

The thing i found out is most to all insurance companys require the car to be garaged i don't have one i had to go with state farm they wanted the car appraise and they did not ask for a garage paid a litte more around $500 for full coverage but still cheaper than reg. insurance hope this helps

I have Haggerty I am insured for 25,000$ 0 deductible, paid out in full if the car is stolen or totalled. My cost 400$ a year(to put this in perspective I pay 750$a year for an 88 camaro just for liability,no collision or theft) but I live in NJ so it is probably cheaper in other states. The car must be garaged, and not used as a main car or taken to work.No appraisal was nec.All they need is a picture of the car.

I, too, have Condon & Skelly, one of the few places that would insure me because of my 19 year old son's driving record. Even though I won't let him touch my Corvette, most places look at the entire family's record. Hey, I thought Grundy wouldn't insure anything newer than a '73??? That's what they told me a few months ago.
