Vette(s): Silver 1974 Convertible - L82 4 speed Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses. 2008 Jetstream Blue Convertible
Anyone ever used one of these?  I've seen these advertised for C5s and C6s, and was wondering if one would make a difference on my C3 Convertible.

Considering the Corvette specific ones cost $3-400 and wouldn't fit my car anyway, I've been searching e-bay for ones from other cars that I'm hoping I could fashion to fit mine.

Regardless, I don't want to spend my money if it won't make much of a difference.  Eager to hear your experiences and thoughts

I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

I've seen them on some C3s and C4s but haven't been able to talk to the owners about how effective they are.  I could use one on "The Toy" so I wouldn't have to keep cleaning the bugs off of the sunvisor.

Marshall,
I have talked to some C5 vert drivers and I was told this.  The one you posted had to be taken down to get the top up.  BUT..those new, plexiglass screen (that light up) fit with the top up.  Then one guy went on to tell me that he had the style of screen that you posted, previous to the plexigless screen wind shield, and every time he had it in, the top down and got caught in a unexpected rain shower, he had to QUICKLY take the screen down to be able to put his top up.  That is what someone told me....so it is second hand.

Warning: The surgeon general has declared that it is NOT unhealthy to smoke your competition AND I just discovered that my corvette is a hybred.  It burns gas and rubber!

Marshall, we have a windjammer and like it. But hard to pack in car when going some where.

I don't think anyone makes one for a C3.

I don't believe anyone makes one for the C3 either.  That's why I'm trying to figure out how to modify one made for a different car (actually, figure out if it's worth it...)

If anyone made them for a C3 I'm sure the standard suppliers like Corvette Central, Eckler's, Corvette America, Zips, et al, would be carrying them.  Like it was already said, the Windjammer works well to deflect air over your head but it can be a pain to pack away should you need to remove it for rain.

On another car (non-Corvette) I have a wind deflector like you're interested in and it works very well.  I have no complaints with it.  If one were available for C3's I'd be interested in having one.  It may be less the design of such a wind deflector but the anticipated sales volume may simply not make the investment worthwhile.

Have a "windjammer" on my "81 coupe. Works very good by deflecting air up over the cockpit area. Takes about two minutes to put on or remove. Good results for the money.
