There ARE just two kinds of people in the world; Corvette People and Everybody else!
We ARE a strange bunch from an outsider's point of view (I.E. Corvette Owners) But that's what is so cool about us AND our Vettes!
Just imagine if there were "Yugo People"

I just don't get the people that buy a
Corvette and have no technical knowledge at all. It seems that the few
Corvette events that I have attended locally are a haven for C5/C6
owners. They are never talking about mechanical stuff. They do seem to
be a different cut from the gearheads found here.

Gotta tell this one!
A couple months back, a local La. Corvette club meets on the first Sunday of the month at a local bar-b-que joint. We happened to be in the neighborhood, parked outside the resturant, went into a adjacent discount store, came out, went into the resturant and ate. The club meeting was just ending as we finished eating. They were all outside admiring their C-4's, 5's and 6's as we walked out, got into my '71 and drove out through the middle of them. Never once a look our direction, howdy, kiss my a$$ or nothin! "course we did miss that "cruise to Strawns for pie " afterwards. Whadda ya think...Owner(s) or person(s)?

I know the voices aren't real, but they have some pretty cool ideas...
I am an owner and the person under the descriptions listed here, reason I say that is because I, the corvette addicted person, who will try to purchase any type of LT-1 memorabilia has not learned the fine art of wrenching on a car (yet), so I have to pay someone to work on my girl, for that reason alone this corvette person has been through 3 shops and so far is every happy with shop number 4. I would love to join the 2 or more vette club, some day, because I got a little blood in my vette vien. My wife said to my 3 year old grand daughter the other day, "here comes grandpa in the red car, Kelcey looked at her and reply, "Grandma that's not a car it's a corbett." I am a corvette person with one in training.
I think every C-4 and later owner should be thankful for the C-3's that they have a Vette to drive today. With the times the American auto industry went through in the 70's with the gas crisis, all the emisions, and other goverment standards, plus foreign competition, if ever they considered dropping a line thats not a get me to work cheap car the 70's could have been the time.
qurtz, I know exactly what you are talking about!!!
We were at a club event that included about a 1.5 hr drive down to a BBQ joint. It was somewhere north of 105 degrees that day. The wife and I and 71Shark and his wife had the tops off and were enjoying life with all the C456's in our club. After the BBQ, we decided to stop at Sonic. 71 & I took the last two stalls, with all the other ones lined up all the way to the front of the drive-in.
Two young ladies in their twenties (SMOKIN!) drive by in an older black blazer. They ask, who owns the green and the black vettes?
Tim and I step forward and they both tell us how cool our vettes are and how they love the body styles. NOT ONE WORD FROM THEM TO THE OTHERS!!!

Here are two young ladies that were born in the height of the C4 generation and yet they LOVE the C-3's!
You should have seen the looks on the other guys faces, Priceless!

I do not own Corvettes...I am simply their temporary caretaker. I AM a Corvette Person.
Doesn't matter if you do your own "wrenching" or not. It's about the passion, the lore, the mystique, THE WAVE.
It's about knowing that Corvettes(ALL Corvettes) are special, and unique. They all have stories to tell...history.
Some of us happen to favor certain year models, or eras, but for me...they're all still....
CORVETTE...the only TRUE American Sports Car.

When you think about C1's, 2's and 3's, we don't own them, they own us. You have to have a true love for them if you passionately put up with the quirks these automobiles have. Spend the money that you have to to make them right and then provide the constant TLC that is required to keep them in tip top condition. I am not a Corvette owner, she owns me and so does the wifes Camaro. Just ask the wife.
Consider yourself fortunate that you have mechanical expertise, ranger 3.
I never acquired that, but I did acquire a vette! We are Corvette People!

i have always considered myself a corvette person (even though i
haven't owned one until last year). i had always loved the car and
swore i'd have one. in all honesty i would love to have a c2 as that is
when i was growing up and first fell in love with them. in 68 when the
change was made i didn't like them but they grew on me. when the c4s
came out i didn't like them but they grew on me too. as of right now i
am not into the c5-6s and don't know if i ever will be. i wave at other
vettes no matter what year and most wave back and the ones that don't,
that's their problem. i know i have 2 corvettes and each one is the
best car i own.
i also agree with greg that it isn't all that necessary to have all the
technical and mechanical expertise to be a corvette person.
