Hello again all,
As you may remember earlier this year I sent an email to all that participated in last years Corvette's Cruise for Cancer saying that due to a set back in my own health situation that I was unable to do this years show. Well I am happy to announce that the show will go on again.
This years format will be slightly different then last year. I am eliminating the cruise this year. Only because some of the older cars were having a hard time staying in the procession. What I am doing this year is not only donating money to prostate cancer but I am expanding the charity to include breast cancer as well. Any money that is collected will be split equally between the two. Last year we had 175 cars raising $8000. The goal this year is 200 cars and hopefully $10000 - $12000. I know that we can do this. Some of the changes are as follows:
1- There will be a $20 application fee payable to the American Cancer Society, but mailed to me for forwarding to my Cancer Society Representative. All application fees go directly to the charity.
2- This will be a show only and a judged show. Not NCCC judging though. Again the host of the event is Cocomo Joe's of Cave Creek. The corporate people will be doing the judging not on originality but on general appearance and cleanliness. They are classic car owners themselves so they know a nice car when they see one.
3- There will be raffle tickets sold for prizes to be given away throughout the day.
4- There will also be raffle tickets sold for a 50/50 raffle. The more tickets sold the more the winner stands to split with the charity.
5- I am going to try and negotiate with some venders to sell Corvette merchandise at the show with 10% of their sales going to the charity. I am also negotiating with one particular merchant to make official T-shirts for an additional $15, but have not as of yet reached a decision on that point.
The date of the event is tentatively set for mid April 2003, more on that will follow as events progress. I will be trying to get a web site with an application that you will be able to print, fill out and send back to me with your application fee. And if I do the T-shirt there will be a place for you to fill out the size. If I do the t-shirts, I would ask that be a separate check payable to me for my submitting to the merchandising company.
As last year I will keep you all informed as to events as they become available. I will also ask that you ask your employers and fellow co-workers if they would like to make a contribution however big or small to the event.
With your help we can make this years show bigger and better then last year and be able to raise more money then last year. We can do it, I know we can. Lets show the corporate world that the little guy can make a difference.
Update: I am very happy to announce that Adam, the owner and operator of this forum, has graciously provided me with an on line registration site. The address is:
www.C3VR.com/cac2003
you can go there and print the necessary forms. My heartfelt thanks goes out to him for donating the space for this charitable cause.
Also I have reached tentitave aggreement with the t-shirt vender. He should be selling shirts about the show with a good portion of the proceeds going directly to the American Cancer Society. I have one band committed to the show so far and there have been a number of venders that are coming forward to donate goods and services to the show. This is getting really big. Please sign up as soon as you can so that I can get the right amount of trophies and dash plaques ordered.
Again my thanks to Adam and this great site for showing that we can make a difference. More to come
Thank you all,

Vette(s): 75 coupe being restored. engine rebuilt & complete interior resto with interior color change. more when i get it together. i am not going original as over my head, too expensive and i'd rather drive than tinker. thats to frustrating for me.
i'm all for your idea, i think it's terrific! but april is comming pretty quick! members need time to plan, and the more time and effort you put into your idea, the better it will go off! just a little something to consider. hope it goes well!

I have been working on this since around November of last year. Hopefully it will go as well if not better then last years show. I have decided to add one more thing in the hopes of attracting more people. If you do not want to have your car judged then on the classing sheet at the bottom just put DISPLAY ONLY. It has been brought to my attention that some are hesitant about entering their car in a judged event and I can surely understand that, thus the reason for the new classing.
I am going to have to put a cut off date for early enrollment at March 15th. Please sign up early so that I can do all of the paperwork for classing and order the dash plaques and trophies in time.
Thanks to Adam here on the C3VR you can print the necessary forms at www.C3VR.com/cac2003.
Thanks again to all
