Vette(s): Silver 1974 Convertible - L82 4 speed Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses. 2008 Jetstream Blue Convertible

For some time I had held a grudge against some folks who drive Vettes and don't wave.

Over time, I've softened some and I now try to assume that either A, they didn't see me, or B, maybe they waved back and I didn't see due to a tinted window or not putting their hand up high enough.

I've been watching for and looking at Vettes for much longer than I've owned one.  My wife is always amazed at how I can pick them out from so far away (and Mick - sometimes I think them F Birds or Camaros are one until I get closer!!).  I guess practice makes perfect.

I still remember the first wave I got, which was before I even knew about the wave.  I had just picked up my car in Atlanta and was driving it back to Indy.  I saw a yellow C6 coming up from behind.  As he passed, he and his young son gave me a thumbs up and a big wave.  What a rush.  I did, of course, wave back.

Point to this whole thing is - I enjoy waving at the other drivers.  If they get enjoyment back, great.  If not, well, maybe next time...

I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

My problem with waving is that I forget which vehicle I am driving at the time and catch myself waving at other Corvettes when I am driving my work van.  I know I have left more than a few people scratching their heads wondering who that old fart was in the van.  Plus I also have to wave at Jeeps cause I own one of them too.  Although it is kinda the opposite situation with them becasue they/we all appreciate the true beat up rock crawling mud bogging dirty jeep the most.  Biggest thumbs up when you can barely see out the windshield because of all the dirt.  No appreciation for numbers matching orginals there.  It's all good and I'll wave at you no matter what I am driving.
