Crying uncle

Vette(s): 1970 T-Top350/350hp numbers matching 4 speed. It's a mess and 1970 Convertible 4 speed.
OK I pick up a 1970 and the more I look into this car the more needs to be done. Yes I wanted a car so can work on it and the good Lord gave me that and more with this car. I have a electrical issues the front suspension needs to be done the motor needs to be rebuilt along the the tyranny and thats just the front end. The question is can I just take off the front clip so I can get to all I need to do? I see pictures of people taking off the whole body is that my only option?

The body is all glued together.  You cannot just remove a panel.  Lifting off the body is a pretty drastic step.

Well thanks I guess I will take off the hood and go to town on it. Taking off the whole body does not appel to me. The frame is good I just wanted it to be easer to work on. I forgot that the Corvette gods do not let such things happen that easy.

Start out slow and before you know it things will get done. Pulling the motor and trans isn't the worst thing.

I was where you are 4 years ago!!  Once you take the hood off everything is really quite accessible.  Pulling the engine and transmission is not that big of a deal.  Rebuilding the front end is a challenge but very doable if you are relatively mechanically savvy!!
 
Take it slow, take lots of pictures and mark everything for reassembly!!
 
When you get behind the wheel on that first cruise, it will all be worth itCool!!

Been there, done that! I got my 71 in May of 06. Dropped a valve in  August. Replaced the engine, had it running again in November. It was down in January briefly with a starter/battery cable problem. I still wouldn't trade it for anything (of course, I say that now LOL). These cars will never be finished. Another example - it took me 3 hours to replace my headlights. It's all worth it when I'm crusing down the road with the side pipes blaring!Star

It's a labor of passion. Someday when I'm gone the car should still remain. I just hope the next person doesn't reverse the positive and let the car slip back into the POC it was when we 1st met!
