I'm a new member and have a ?  What is the best way to remove the steering cylinder lock?  I have put new door locks in and want the steering lock to match.
I've removed the steering wheel and turn signal switch as per manual and have punched though flash but cannot find spring button at lower end of cylinder lock to depress to let the lock pull out.  Maybe I should just go have another beer and then just put it back together and use two key's, one to unlock and one to drive???

You must turn the ign key to the "Run" position to remove the cylinder. You will not be able to push the release button down if the key is in any other position. The release button/tab is at the far left end of the key cylinder, and you should be able to see if sticking up a little there. (You can also look at your new cylinder to find it, and see how it works) Turn the key to "Run", and push down on the tab, while pulling out on the cylinder.
Remember to turn the new key cylinder to the "Run" position before sliding it into the column.

I've tried it in the run position and also in the ACC. position and still have had no luck.  I've used different sizes of picks and just can't seem to find the tab to push in.  If anyone else has any ideas I'd appreciate the input.  It may be a locksmith is the only answer? Wits%20End

Remembering to put the lock in the run position, use a small screwdriver to push in the release tab. It'll come right out.
