WooHooo!!!
I got my Danbury Mint ZL-1 one today!! (Mama says it's early DaddyDay gift!!) It's excellent. It's actually more detailed than any of the other Danbury cars I've got, and I have several. Along with the usual opening hood, doors, headlights, etc, the spare tire tub drops down, and the spare comes out. The interior features carpeting, leather-like seats, seatbelts; all standard Danbury fare. But the really cool thing was the rear compartment for the batt. opens, and there's a cool little baby Delco Energizer battery!! That's a new one! The shifter also moves forward/back & side to side! NEAT-O!!
The motor is detailed very nicely, with the usual hoses, plug wars, decals, etc. Even gots the vaccuum lines & fuel lines! Air filter in the hood, as it should be, really nice yeller paint w/black stripes. It's a really nice, nice car. Get one if you can, it's a great addition to any collection. (Boy... this is starting to sound like an infomercial, no?) Adams' Apple38520.8235069444

Being the novice that I am, what year is it?
Can you post a picture of it or a link to the Danbury site?
Do you like Danbury better than Franklin Mint?

It's a '69. There were only 2 factory-built ZL-1s ever made.
Yes, I have discovered that the Danbury cars are much more detailed than the F.Mint cars. Much more accurate. Plus, F. Mint p**sed me off a few years ago, so I refuse to buy anything else from them!

A little more info on the ZL-1.....It has the same basic engine as the L-88, but the engine block was aluminum, also, not just the heads. It was only ordered one 2 'Vettes in '69, at a cost of $3,000, just for the ZL-1 engine, on top of the cost for the car!!! There were many more ZL-1 Camaros, and some say there were also some ZL-1 Chevelles, but I'm not sure of that.
Of the two ZL-1 'Vettes, one (the yellow one) has been documented heavily, and is now owned by Roger Judinski(?),in Florida. The other one is still the subject of controversy. It is supposedly white, but I beleive some say it was blue. Who knows?! Either one is worth $$$$ Adams' Apple38522.3315972222
