I know it’s a long shot but do any of you remember this car.

It was featured in a magazine in the early 70’s 70-73 maybe and during that time was a show winner. Its possible it was featured somtime around 74' after it was painted red.

I just bought the car and am hoping to gather some info on it.

Plate reads MY J490

Pretty unique car and kinda has my hopes up for the obvious reasons.

I've never seen that paint scheme on any shark before. Good luck with your hunt.

Can't tell much from the picture but it is reminiscent of a Motion car. The paint scheme and slanted back glass give it the only appearance notable.

As soon as I saw the car I thought motion. Its hard to see but there is a scoope above the rear wheel in the upper right hand pic.

It has true Anson wheels, was an original 427 4speed and has 4.56 gears & side pipes

I know a lot of early vettes got built this way but still, little signs.

I would love to get lucky and find the magazine it was featured in. I had a dream last night that the cover read “MOTION BUILDS A WINNER”

Definitely NOT a Motion paint job, imho.
Do you have possession of the car yet? If so, can you take a few more pics for us? Especially the front fender vents/gills, and the hood.

Rosen DID occasionally install a small, forward facing scoop above the rear wheel well. In fact, if memory serves, it is the same scoop used on the Shelby Musturds of the era('67-'68).
More pics/info please! The car looks interesting, for sure. It's possible it is a Motion parts car, meaning the body/engine etc, parts were bought from Motion, and installed on the car elsewhere.
Congrats on the find, and the purchase, and Welcome to C3VR!

I'm guessing the price you paid would give you the best indication if it were an original Motion car or not. If it had been written up in a magazine as a Motion car, I'm sure someone on this site will know about it.

Good luck with it and enjoy it - no matter the history.

.......... and welcome! Thumbs%20Up

I don't remember anything about the car, but I do remember seeing the car.  No help, I know.

I stole the car no doubt, cheap for a "plain" 68' vette...les than I've seen most 85-88 cars go for.

I recognize that it is not the typical motion paint job but I have seen the large "negative" motion on the rear on 1 other car. It was a verified 70’ motion Camaro.

The hood in the photos is gone; the gills are in standard position with no mesh in them.

The guy I bought the car from has owned it since 1974. He told me it was a show car when he bought it and it won a lot of trophies. He also said it was featured in a magazine but I didn’t ask if it was before or after he painted it.

I’m just hoping someone can remember the article and point me in the right direction.

I remember seeing the car also, but it seems to me like it was in a "corvette" or maybe a sports car book.

Also, I got gas today. The fill neck is at least 2.5" to 3" in dia. Is that normal?

Does it have the billet fill cap? They were larger diameter than original. Definitely hints of a motion clone....that rear window is no easy glass job....
