Vette(s): 1971 350 270 hp roadster millivanilli red, black interior, white rag top, white hard top, I've had it 18 years and intend on giving it to my son for his 25th birthday(another 18 years from now)
Hi Gang,
Well today I got a chance to to some work to the 71 and boy did I open a can of worms.
Well it was running pretty poorly when I took it out last Sunday, so I took out all the tune up goodies I've been stashing away for the weekend of just corvette work (that never is going to happen at this house!!!!). So waiting for some of my wife's doctors to call and give us the ok for the M R I she needs.I figured I get the wire and plugs in and all that tune up stuff  .Well to make a long story short, I wound up taking the distributor out becuase someone must out had it out before and #1 plug wire wasn't pointing at the left front side of the motor and when I bumped the key I thought I should check the play in the bushings.Well that was a good thing because I found the oil pressure line was very brittle and just broke as soon as I moved it.
I figured I'd just let you all know, because some of you guys may want to check your line too!!! This be a minor thing that could lead to engine failure and a really bad day out in your C3. I just got off the phone with Corvette Specialties and they had it in stock. Mike was real great with my needs and I ordered a few other things for the other work down the road.( this gives me the excuse to put the stereo head in cause the dash will be apart anyway). Have a great day....... Bill
