Hi all

When I purchased my 71 the door vin sticker had been removed. This sticker lists the build date along with the vin and GM's compliance statement.

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement or reproduction?

Once or twice I have seen them available on eBay. Don't recall the user's name. Perhaps a search in the closed auctions will find it for you.

I was under the impression that the VIN for C3s was in the lower front corner of the windshield, driver's side and the plate inside the door was for trim codes. ??? Is there supposed to be a VIN plate inside the door? Since all my tags inside the door are missing ( lost in painting ), I have to ask this also, is there a build date on the trim tag as per the original post?

Per the original post, there should be a blue federal vehicle certification sticker affixed to the back end of the door, containing VIN and build date-no trim/paint codes. The resource I consulted states that this was mandated for vehicles built after September 1, 1969.

Chevrolet has liscensed M.F. Dobbins to reproduce these labels. I bought one from him but they are not cheap, $125 and that was 4 or 5 years ago. He is usually at Carlisle in the flea market. The last address and phone for him:

the blue sticker you are looking for is offered by jim osborne reproductions, i dont have the number but im sure if you do a search it will come up,as for the ones on ebay, it is one of their employees that is buying them and selling them on ebay and making large profits, i know this for a fact because i was at carlisle and stopped by there booth and was talking to my brother in law about how those stickers were agains the law to repro and sell (vin#)and how i saw them on ebay and now at the booth so they must be ok to sell again, and we weere talking to the guy at the booth and he stated that they were the only co that was making them, and i replyed that you better check who you are selling them to because they were on ebay for alot more than they were asking, he stated it was him and that the opening bid was the cost on them and that if people dont do there homework they will pay too much for too little. so buyer beware, and do your homework, jamie

Optics is visually on target! The VIN was typed on the blue certification sticker...in later years it came pre-printed format.

Let us know once you've confirmed vendor source...this ought to be interesting.

jim osborne is the place to get the sticker.you must type the vin and date yourself with an old typewriter.you must use carbon paper to print on the sticker as typewriter ribbon will not print on the sticker.apply to the door and apply the overlay on top of the sticker sealing it down.mine looks ok and is better than nothing

I was able to get the door vin sticker through Jim Osborne Reproductions (http://osborn-reproduction.com/). The cost is $10 per label which comes with the clear tape to place it on the door.

Do I get this right ? Your not talking about the trim tag, do you ?
Should my early 68 also have this blue door VIN sticker ?
By the way, looks like if also the built sheet ( tank sticker ) is available now on reproduction.
