Here's another option for all of you to look for if you are wanting a small lift. I recently bought an old Bear drive on alignment rack at a public auction for $40. It was just the drive on ramp sections - no alignment goodies included. The main section is approx 8' long and the ramps are approx 9' long. The ramps have air cylinders under them which you use to level the entire 17' ramp after you drive on it. The bottoms of the tires are 22" off the floor when fully lifted up. Makes it very nice for going underneath to work on your car (or truck). I bought a Sears creeper with the height adjustable pad and tilt it to around 30 degrees lift and together with the drive on lift I have never had it so good working under a car before.
I have an old barn which I have converted into my shop area and I have just been keeping my Corvette parked on the lift all the time now. I figure it will make it just that much harder for someone to steal it if they have to figure out how to get it down while they are in a hurry. The lift has safety legs on the back and you have to look at them a bit to figure out how they work if you are not famiiliar with them.
