Vette(s): 1978 Corvette Light Blue Pulled from the swamps of Miami! Its a driver and back on the road!
Could someone review how yo tall the early or late year model production by checking the numbers. On my 1978 it seems like I have some items which the book say is how the early edition was made but then it seems like I have some items which look like the late model edition for that  year so I would for once and for all like to find out what I have.????

One of the options that is confusing me is, i have the light convenience package for the dome and floor lights to come on and timer off. It seems like the LOW FUEL light would be in this same edition. But I do not have this option or it's there but I do not have the red icon to light up???

Any info on the numbers will be greatly appreciated. BB78

There's a trim plate on the driver's door jamb by the hinges.  It gives codes for date of manufacture, interior trim, and body color.

The build date has a letter code (A=August, B=September, etc., and the following number is the day of the month of assembly (not always accurate but within a day due to when the car was finished in assembly).

There's not always a hard and fast rule as to what makes an early car or a late car, as oftentimes a car can be completed with both early and late parts depending on when they were introduced into the assembly line.  I guess they could be called "transitional" cars.

Beisdes the trim plate, early '78s had the orange convenience light timer next to the fuse box.  Later cars had it mounted behind the glove box.
