Well, over the long weekend, I decided to get started on the big blocks partial "freshening up" and detail...

The insides of the engine were very clean, no sludge anywhere and a lifter valley you could eat from....  the heads were very clean too.... after 90k miles, this kind of amazes me..

The outside of the engine is grimey, so a degrease and detail is in order... also replacing all the hoses while I am at it...

The reason I decided to go through all this was I had a real cranky lifter and wanted to install a larger, but not stupid larger camshaft.... while at it ill install new valve seals, timing chain, water pump intake manifold and so on...

one thing that has been a great help is my camcorder... i been taping most of my progress, which will help in the reinstallation of parts.

Jim,

Be sure to bag and tag all of your bolts, and make any notes that will help you remember their order.  Pictures (or your video) are a must.

Be prepared for "while I'm here."  It's very easy to expand your project past your original ideas & budget.

Good luck,

Anthony

Already had a issues with "while I am here", power steering pump looks a wreck as does the hoses, so while at it, I might as well rebuild the steering cylinder too.....

ziploc bags and a good permanent marker are good friends to have!

LOLLOLLOLI love the "while I am at it". When I did my interior it seamed that I was ordering new parts every day cause I found something else I wanted to do. The engine is on my todo list but it might be awhile before I start. My current projects have to do with the houseCry.
Oh I forgot, yes please post pic's when you have timeWink
