You know how those small projects just get bigger and bigger? This is one of those projects. Engine is out. As long as it is what other jobs do you suggest? Suspension has been replaced or removed, blasted and powder coated. Brakes are done except for lines which are on order. Any benefit to pulling steering control valve and cylinder now? Any of those "you know what should have done?" ideas?
I'm also replacing the DOOR SPRINGS! I hate them. Got the tool, eveything is great. I tap the spring up, there is no hole, no indent that i can see. Is there something to put the lower part of the s spring?
Thanks, Dave

Clean and paint the bay, change the vacuum lines if it has been a long time, clean electrical connections, replace lines for the windshield washer and the blades, and make everything else look real purty.

My first questions would be...why is the engine out to start with?
If it's only out so you can clean/detail the engine compartment, I would suggest replacing the timing chain/gears now while it's out, as well as the oil pump. Why? Well...it's a lot easier to do it now than when it's in the car. It's easy to replace the sparkle plugs with it out, too...
If the engine is out for a rebuild, then you'll be doing all that anyway.
Take the raditator out and have it cleaned while the engine is out, too, if you can.

Thanks for the input. The engine is being rebuilt to slightly more than stock. Radiator is just back frombeing recored. I never would have thought about the vacuum lines...great idea, I wasn't having a problem but i might as well make it like new. anyone know how many feet of hose I need? i'd guess about six miles. Checking the wiring sounds like a good rainy day project. I'll pull the wiper motor and cleanit up as well, mine looks like they used it during a war.
Thanks again,
Dave

You would be wise to buy a vacume hose kit. I bought mine from "Doc Rebuild" I think they are the best place to buy hoses, also they will send you a diagram with it.
Give me a day or two for some pics of the car. New computer, the old one took all the good pics I had when it left this world. I'll check out Doc rebuild.

Check the radiator core support. If it's rotting, replace it..They tend to rot... Check your Front suspension parts...< id="gwProxy" ="">< ="jsCall;" id="jsProxy" ="">JimG 2009-08-06 19:25:05

Take the a/c out, clean it and replace the heater core and all of hte gaskets. Guaranteed to have a bunch of gunk in there and you cannot get the a/c housing out without ruining it with the engine in place. If the car is not stock, I would replace the entire a/c system with an after market one that always works. Hot rod air or Vintage air are good choices.
