Hi,
Last year when I was driving the "Demon" after his engine rebuild he came down with this annoying engine chirp. It drove me crazy because it would come and go and would just ruin the nice rumbling sound of my engine. We tried to look for it with no luck.
So this spring my husband and I tore down the engine about 75% of the way to look for it. We finally found it! It was the camshaft button that was causing the problem. It was rubbing on the inside of the timing chain cover. We fixed it by installing a new racing type button that has a different design to it. We took the car out last night for it's first drive of the year and it sounds fantastic! The chirp is gone!
We also decide to drop the tranny and replace all the seals since they were at least 30+ years old and leaking a little. Painted the tranny a nice silver and now my "Chassis Cam" view is complete. Plus it's so nice not to have any leaks on the car. Leaks just bug my husband and make everything dirty.
One more thing. We had replaced the carpet when we did the entire on body restoration in 07. We found that the secondaries weren't really kicking in like they should. The problem was that the gas pedal was hitting the new firewall installation. We cut some if it away and now you can really feel those 360 horses! So when putting in new carpet or firewall installation make sure that you have clearance for the gas pedal!
I would like to Thank Everyone on this wonderful group for always helping us out. Without your help and incredible knowledge we never would have been able to get this car up and running like it is.
